Then, what is the normal behaviour? No asking at all?

When I, using GNOME, start Evolution I am not prompted to unlock my
keyring as that is performed by the GNOME greeter when I authenticated
 there.
In other words, if you have automatic login configured for your system,
where you don't have to enter your password when your system boots up,
then you'll have to enter the keyring password the first time you use
any application that requires a password, a la Evo. I discovered this by
accident, so I turned off auto-login, and set all email accounts in Evo
to remember their passwords.

[Evolution] Resetting mailto: to Evo

2012-02-29 Thread Dianne Reuby
I use Gmail online purely for my genealogy, everything else I use Evo. I
recently misunderstood the instructions for Gmail settings, and told it
to use Gmail for mailto: (I thought this was for Gmail only, as that was
the settings I was altering).

I've reset the prefs in Chrome to mailto: = none, removed the handler
completely, but nothing seems to to reset it to use Evo - when I click a
mail address, it loads Chrome.

I'm using Evo 2.30.3 on Ubuntu 10.10.

TIA for any advice.
Dianne

This has since changed in later GNOME releases, but I think on your
system the mailto: handler is still stored in GConf as:

   /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/mailto/command

Try changing the command value to evolution %s. This is easiest to
do through gconf-editor (or in the panel menu under Applications -
System Tools - Configuration Editor). You might need to install the
gconf-editor package if it's not listed in the menu.

If that doesn't work, I think the new location is:

   $HOME/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache

Just edit that file in a text editor.

Brilliant - that worked. Thanks!

[Evolution] Unable to import PKCS12 certificate

2012-02-29 Thread Chandana De Silva
Hello All,

My mail server has a self signed certificate, and I wanted to import it
into Evolution, to prevent it continuously asking me to accept the bad
certificate.

I first converted my pem format certificate to pkcs12 format:

 openssl pkcs12 -export -in /etc/pki/_cert.pem
inkey /etc/pki/xxx_key.pem -out xxx_cert.pkcs12

I then used Edit-Preferences-Certificates-Contact
Certificates-Import to import xxx_cert.pkcs12

I get the following error:
Failed to import certificate: security library failure

What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks in advance
Chandana

To start with, you're not telling us what version of Evolution you have.
