[Evolution] corrupt message list
My message list has become corrupt with lots of missing messages, as well as missing message status (i.e., all messages became unread). This happened while I had evolution open, after I had been using it successfully for weeks. My efforts to fix the problem by restarting evo or deleting various index files have not worked. I filed a bug (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=707235), but my version of evolution is too old (3.4.4). This is with a remote IMAP mailbox, one with subfolders. It's the top level that's giving me problems. Since this is the current version in Debian it is awkward for me to upgrade. I'm hoping someone here can advise me at least what I need to do to purge my current setup. I've tried increasingly extensive deletions, based on a web search, but they haven't helped. Here are some more details that might be helpful: ross@tempserver:~/.local/share/evolution/mail/13755x.1xxx1.24@tempserver$ ls -l total 1120 -rw-r--r-- 1 ross ross 1129472 Sep 1 14:45 folders.db -rw-r--r-- 1 ross ross 13 Sep 1 14:45 INBOX.cmeta -rw--- 1 ross ross1024 Sep 1 09:21 INBOX.ibex.index -rw--- 1 ross ross 8 Sep 1 14:45 INBOX.ibex.index.data First I deleted everything but folders.db. This does cause some stuff to be regenerated, but it was still corrupt. I shutdown again and deleted folders.db as well as ~/.cache/evolution/mail/13755.1xxx1.21@tempserver/folders.db That produced a much more extensive download, but the result was still corrupt. The remote mailbox has about 19,000 messages. To figure out what files evolution was using I tried lsof on the evo process (though maybe there are auxiliary ones?).
