About the authentication erros, we had a go on this for a while ago but did not really come to any conclusions.. The problem seems to be firewall related.. I can use the same version of Evolution inside work (inside the LAN) and there I have no such errors. But here at home, I have those errors. (But I am connected to the same mailserver from my iphone but I am using activesync on my phone so I guess that's why I do not have the same issues there..) Ubuntu has got its pros and cons. I'm using the 16.04 LTS, as well as Arch Linux. Since the software versions provided by 16.04 are old, they don't suffer from a few annoying issues, that affect all other distros using more current software versions, this is a warning, but way too off-topic to go into details. The major issue with Ubuntu flavours and Evolution in general is, that Evolution is provided by the universe repository. Other then the main repository, the universe repository is not maintained by Canonical, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu. Current Ubuntu releases migrated back to GNOME, but they didn't make Evolution, the GNOME mail client, the default for Ubuntu installs. I don't know how well or bad Evolution works for 16.04, due to bad experiences with running Evolution on Ubuntu in the past, I only run Evolution on Arch Linux. IMO the OP should send a request to https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-users and ask, if there are known issues related to Ubuntu 16.04 and Evolution and if so, if there are workarounds available, such as Evolution provided as a snap. If there should be a snap available, it's important to ask, if there are known issues, due to the sandbox approach. After clarifying "things" on the Ubuntu users mailing list, it might be worth to send a request to https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/Ubuntu-devel-discuss . This is not the developer's mailing list, it's a discussion mailing list, the "Point of contact for Ubuntu users to reach Ubuntu developers". Thanks Zan. I think I'll stay with Ubuntu thanks ad I have used for a long time and just need to figure out what is causing this problem On Wed, 26 Jun 2019, 20:39 , wrote: > Hi > I recently did a clean install of Ubuntu mate 16.04.6 LTS and Evolution > 3.18.5.2 . Tested on Power-9 with a Radeon GPU, Ryzen 1700X with a Vega GPU and an Intel i7 laptop with Intel GPU. All Fedora 30. All have a high performing Evolution. I mostly use Thunderbird, but I try out Evolution now and then. Ubuntu always seemed OK'ish to me but sometimes their software build choices are weird. Re: [Evolution] Evolution email really slow
Hi Thank you for the replies. I have tried the suggestions but no joy. I have also re-installed Ubuntu and Evolution and of course, that worked a treat. Unfortunately, it has started again. This after adding a signature but again , this worked with signature before. Any other ideas really welcome -Graham On Fri, 21 Jun 2019 at 12:19, wrote: > Hi > My first time on here and hope I'm doing the right thing. > > I've been using Evolution for years. Just in case. > Ok, I have downgraded evolution and evolution-data-server and now I > am back to the way it was. Hmm, I'd not expect that, but maybe this one "Change how CamelOfflineStore goes online" in eds is related. Eventually also https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/issues/479 > About the authentication erros, we had a go on this for a while ago > but did not really come to any conclusions.. I'm sorry, that might be a long time ago. > The problem seems to be firewall related.. I can use the same version > of Evolution inside work (inside the LAN) and there I have no such > errors. But here at home, I have those errors. You should use the external EWS URL when you are not on the internal network. The servers can provide such addresses (one for internal and one for external access point). When you run with debugging on (as shown above) and in the EWS account Properties-> Receiving Email tab click "Fetch URL", you'll see some XML data related to autodiscover. That's what the server advertises. Search for Exchange.asmx there. It can also depend whether you use NTLM or Basic authentication, I think. > (But I am connected to the same mailserver from my iphone but I am > using activesync on my phone so I guess that's why I do not have the > same issues there..) Right, those are two different protocols. I do not know whether you've them available on the same server (host name). [Evolution] view photos quickly
Hello, I'm still not really happy with my viewing photos ability. At present, I * open the mail * scroll down to the very bottom * right-click, choose "view all inline" * scroll again down to see all pictures Quite some fiddling and I have to do it several times a day. My favourite would be a shortcut "view all in image viewer", but I guess that's not possible. Could somebody recommend another strategy?
