I have just now done the following: 1) Deleted gmail email account via Evolution 2) Checked Online Accounts and there were no entries for Google 3) evolution --force-shutdown (had to perform twice to kill all processes) 4) From Gnome Menu Evolution Edit Accounts Add Mail Account I then filled out for with gmail account information. I left the box for "Look up mail server on the entered email address" checked. I then clicked Next and the returned settings looked okay. The gmail account showed up in Evolution with seemingly all the old email present. A short time later I received the following message: Execution of filter "Mail from utube" failed: invalid folder URI "xxx" The URI appeared to be a normal UID type string. I then went back to the Gnome Menu Evolution Edit Preferences Select the gmail account Edit Receiving Options I changed the setting for "Check new messages every 1 minutes" to 1 I selected "Check for new messages in all folders". I clicked on "OK". I restarted Evolution from the Gnome Menu. There were no GUI displayed error messages on startup. It is been 10 minutes and there have been no GUI displayed error messages. For at least now, that seems to have resolved the issue. You've blanked out the UID, is it a gmail address or is it an evolution internal UID? I suspect that you will need to remove all the gmail accounts, shutdown evolution and all its components ("evolution --force-shutdown") and then restart evolution and configure the gmail account within evolution (i.e. not a GoA account) P. ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
[Evolution] Authentication issue with gmail imap account
I am running on a current Fedora 32 (Workstation Edition) x86_64 release. The installed evolution packages are: evolution.x86_64.3.36.5-1 evolution_data-server.x86_64.3.36.5-1 evolution-data-server-langpacks.noarch.3.36.5-1 evolution-langpacks.noarch.3.36.5-1 I recently started getting authentication failed messages on my gmail imap accounts in evolution, so I went into gnome-online-accounts and deleted my gmail email account. I then recreated the gmail online accounts and was able to define the email accounts in evolution. I seem to be interacting with the gmail imap system fine, but I keep getting the following error messages in the GUI: Error while Checking for new mail at "u...@gmail.com" Failed to authenticate Coreresponding source for service with UID "xx" not found. According to the GNOME wiki, I should set the CAMEL_DEBUG environment variable, but I am unsure which value to use in CAMEL_DEBUG when running evolution in debug mode while researching this problem. ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

Hi, do you mean with the same address book, on the same Horde server, or a different addressbook on a different server? It can be the Horde returns something what the evolution-data-server cannot decipher for some reason, though I'd expect you'd notice in the CARDDAV_DEBUG log. Would you mind to share a part of the response, showing one or two contacts returned from the server, with redacted private information from the snippet, please? Also, does the address book on the same server, with only a few contacts, work properly? > When I remove the file and restart evolution Just in case, restarting evolution itself is not enough, you need to restart also the background evolution-data-server processes, in this case evolution-addressbook-factory (because it can have the file still opened). If you restarted Evolution with `evolution --force-shutdown`, supposing this is a native Evolution, not the Flatpak version, then it should work as expected. Hi Milan, thanks a lot for your help. Am 25.08.2020 12:05, schrieb Milan Crha via evolution-list: does evolution-addressbook-factory process use a lot of CPU? 1.000 is not that many, the real problem starts when there are tens of thousands of the contacts. This is addressed for 3.38.0 [1]. No, seems not to be the same problem. Given that I am using evolution successfully with hundreds of contacts on another machine, I assumed it had to be some other reason. ~/.cache/evolution/addressbook//contacts.db The file is virtually empty for me (72K, no entries in the ECacheObjects table). When I remove the file and restart evolution, it shows the spinner on the address book for a while and when I change the search filter, the content area says "Searching for the Contacts...". Afterwards it goes back to "There are no items to show in this view." contacts.db file and in the GUI. Might there be any filters involved on the Evolution side, preventing to show all the contacts in that particular address book? I would not know. I've set the dropdown to show "Any Category" and cleared the search filter. You can check ~/.cache/evolution/addressbook//contacts.db file(s), whether they contain existing/downloaded contacts - they should. You can remove those files and run $ evolution --force-shutdown to restart the background processes, which will re-initiate the download of the content from the server. Unless you stopped the local cache fill in the middle, you should see the contacts both in the contacts.db file and in the GUI. [Evolution] Entries from larger WebDAV address book not showing up
Hello everyone, one of my CardDAV address books (~1000 contacts) doesn't work properly with evolution. I have turned on CARDDAV_DEBUG=all and it seem that all the cards are downloaded, but when the sync is done, nothing shows up in evolution. There is another small address book (< 10 entries) on the same server, which syncs fine. Both are also synced to my phone using DAVx5 without problems. I am running Evolution 3.36.4-0ubuntu1, server is on Horde 5.2.22. Any idea how I can debug this further? On Tue, 2020-08-25 at 09:37 +0200, Martin Wagner wrote: > Any thoughts or ideas? Any way to search in much more detail? Hi, once you'll have things in that odd stuck state again, you can use gdb to get the view on what the process does. It's important to have installed debuginfo (dbg) packages for evolution-data-server, evolution, glib2, glib-networking, maybe also for gnutls (though some distros split the debuginfo into separate files, like libcamel, libedataserver, and so on, which makes it harder to install all-in- one). You can get the backtrace with command like this: $ gdb --batch --ex "t a a bt" -pid=`pidof evolution` &>bt.txt Please check the bt.txt for any private information, like passwords, email address, server addresses,... I usually search for "pass" at least (quotes for clarity only). I sometimes face a long delay when downloading IMAP messages, the process is waiting for a response from the server, when I check the backtrace. It takes really long, something between a minute or two. The funny part is when I select a different unloaded message, then it loads immediately, the same when I move back to the previous message, which makes me think that the problem is lower than in the libcamel (evolution-data-server). Sadly the logfile (generated by "CAMEL_DEBUG=pop3 evolution >& logfile") doesn't show any hint for me. It just stopped mid-sentence: /build/evolution-data-server-R_OWch/evolution-data-server- 3.36.4/src/camel/providers/pop3/camel-pop3-folde Per my previous experience I can leave it sit like this, fully unresponsive, for hours. Only help is shutting down Evolution forcefully, often even the hard way using xkill. This time it responded to clicking the window frame [x] (in my case still upper right corner), which resulted in this message: (evolution:2276): GLib-GIO-WARNING **: 09:23:20.921: Your application did not unregister from D-Bus before destruction. Consider using g_application_run(). r.c(1201): message_time= [1597906886] After that it's a few more normal lines of pop3 stream messages, and an orderly closing of that stream (compared to the other mail accounts I have). I found no errors and nothing out of order except of these two messages. What troubles me a lot though is that this happened to a "new" mail account today, one it hasn't happened to before. And one out of my control, it's one of my work accounts. Any thoughts or ideas? Any way to search in much more detail?
