Thanks Milan and Andre. It did not seem to work on Mageia 9, but I will
play more tomorrow. Best, Roy

Hi,
one of the bugs I reference to downstream:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1896902

Long story short:

  $ WEBKIT_FORCE_SANDBOX=0 evolution

Hope it helps.

[Evolution] Unable to print to file

2021-05-03 Thread aguador via evolution-list
I am sure I have done this in the past, but at the moment I am unable
to print to a file (pdf, postscript, svg - does not matter) in either
3.40.1 (Mageia 9) or 3.38.3 (Mageia 8), both from rpm packages.

In both cases a message appears saying that the file or directory does
not exist. Even creating an empty file to be overwritten produces the
same message.

In Evo 3.40 there is a suggestion that perhaps other options need to be
chosen, but I don't see anything in the configuration that might affect
this. What am I/Mageia/Evo doing wrong?

Thanks,
Roy

compose
window. It doesnt matter if the attachment is dragged to message body
or the "attachment-bar".

Milan gave the correct hint in another thread: With the package/rpm
version, instead of the flatpak-version, its working just fine.

In a Flatpak or Snap sandbox the application cannot read just any file
it wants.

I suspect Evolution is getting the attachment filename and attempting to
just read it off disk. Which will not work in the sandbox. It has to go
through some sort of portal process to get access to the file.

This is either an Evolution issue, or if Evolution has decided to never
officially support sandboxing, a snap/flat packager issue.

It will probably be fixed automatically once Evolution ports to GTK-4.

There's this issue which links to a lot of other stuff:
https://github.com/flatpak/xdg-desktop-portal/issues/99

You were right: I was using Fedoras default font "Cantarell". After
switching to Roboto it is looking fine.

Hi,
an unrelated thing, that's a Flatpak version. I suggest you install the
package/RPM version instead. You get better desktop integration.

> descenders are cropped from time to time

That's drawn by WebKitGTK (webkit2gtk3 package, when having installed
the RPM version). A very old bug [1], closed as unreproducible. It can
depend on the font settings, I think.

Milan
