Hi there,

I've only seen ".debris" folders from the sync/cloud backup tool
"Mega" (aka 'mega.nz'). I haven't come across it anywhere else on
my
system or any other's I've administered (and a check on the
machines
here that have Mega shows it somewhere with that, those that don't
have Mega don't have such a folder).

Searching on the web also only finds references to Mega.

Do you by any chance have Mega installed and linked to your
Evolution folder?

HTH,HAND,

KR

[Sorry for the repeated message Andy, I often forget to hit
"reply-list" and didn't manage to catch it this time :)]

No worries, thanks it really helps, yes I do have mega installed and
linked to my evolution folder. It would point to it being sync errors
across machines, or items deleted on one then moved to the other.
Useful to know, thoughts on "safe to delete"? I might just move/rename
and see and report back.
Thanks
Andy

Evolution itself has no default subfolder called ".debris".
Hard to guess more what that is without info about that
subfolder'sexact location, Evolution version, accounts configured, etc.

Thanks Andre,
The location is /home/.local/share/evolution/.debrisVersion number is
3.36.4-0ubuntu1Only one email account configured, no contacts, tasks or
memos, calendar is linked to a google calendar.
The folder contains lots of subfolders, many for each day, looking to
correspond with an exit from the programme.

[Evolution] Safe to delete .debris folder? Y/N?

2021-02-20 Thread Andy Proctor
Hi All,

I have been doing some routine housekeeping and notice that the
Evolution subfolder called .debris contains lots (thousands) of files
(totals over 300MB). Am I safe to delete this folder and what is its
purpose? (It doesnt seem to be the trash as I empty that on close.

Thanks

Andy

PS I know I can move it somewhere else, but really interested to know
what it is first.

Thanks to those replying. The problem of sync was not an evolution
problem at all.
I tested with a manual transfer on a stick between the two devices
which showed that folders etc could be detected.
It took a short while to evolution to scan the new changes which was
unexpected but I proved evolution isn't the problem.
It turns out there it a default setting in megasync not to sync ".*"
files, which was why the folders and others were not syncing...
Duh! Undocumented feature. I set mega to sync ".*" files and guess
what, all works.
Thanks for the help all, this one is solved.

[Evolution] Strange sync behaviour

2021-01-13 Thread Andy Proctor
Hi All,

I have got 2 Ubuntu latest version installations, one on a laptop one
on a desktop. Evolution is on the laptop and works great. I use
megasync to sync documents between the two machines automatically, and
I am trying to repeat this for evolution. I have set up a sync to sync
the whole .local/share/evolution directory to the cloud, then back down
again to the desktop.

All the files appear in the right place on the desktop however when
opening Evolution on the desktop it does not pick up my mail folders. I
use subfolders of my inbox for mail filing. The actual subfolders are
present in the right directory, but the evolution install is not
picking them up. I have not currently set any external mail setting on
the desktop installation.

Any reasons you can think of why it does not recognise the subfolders.
In addition mail appears in the inbox but the contents of mails are
unreadable.

Thoughts, tips gratefully received.

Lastly, the email account I use is POP not IMAP therefore using IMAP is
not possible.

Thanks

Andy

[Evolution] Return to inbox after delete

2020-12-13 Thread Andy Proctor
Hi good folk, I have not been able to find an answer to this online. I
have recently refreshed my Evolution install and would like to be able
to return to the inbox after having an email open and deleting it - as
opposed to opening the next email in line.

I'm sure this must have been debated here before. I have been through
many months of back posts but not found anything.

Can you folks help please?

Thanks!
