[Evolution] Assign Color, Move | Move, Assign Color Action - Filter

2019-10-01 Thread Justin Musgrove
Evo: 3.28.5 (CentOS77) with EWS

What is the correct action order to set the color and move to a folder?
I have tried it both ways and get mixed/non-consistent results. The move
action always works, however the set color is mixed. The label action
consistently works, but I was trying to avoid unnecessary labels. I
watched the CAMEL_DEBUG=filters and didn't notice anything particularly
weird. These filters are high on the order list as they are used for
mailing-lists.

The set colors do work every time using the "Select All, C-y" method
after the move is completed.

I have tried both:
   1 set color
   2 move to folder
   3 quit proc
And
   1 move to foler
   2 set color
   3 quit proc

Surely I'm missing something simple here.

[Evolution] pkcs7 smime signing always attachment

2019-09-17 Thread Justin Musgrove
Evolution: 3.28.5-2.el7 (CentOS 7), EWS Exchange

When I digitally sign emails with a smartcard, it indicates the email
has an attachment. Is there a setting to sign the emails without
indicating an attachment? Just curious.

Getting some complaints from other people that all my emails have
attachments. However, we have some users with Outlook and their
digitally signed emails do not indicate an attachment. Below is the
difference between evolution signing and outlook.

# Excerpt START

evo:
--=-W2fyUEzwOWIHsaTn7POv
Content-Type: application/x-pkcs7-signature; name="smime.p7s"
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="smime.p7s"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

outlook:
--=_NextPart_000_0052_01D56C93.B184CB40
Content-Type: application/pkcs7-signature; name="smime.p7s"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="smime.p7s"

Oh and keep up the good work evo team, best email client out there.

Setting the dconf value drag-and-drop-save-file-format to 'pdf' is
causing evolution to hang after dragging the email to gnome files.

[Evolution] Filters Keep jumping off the deep end

2015-06-08 Thread Justin Musgrove
All,

Fedora 22, Evo 3.16.2.1, EWS

Not sure where to report this, but evo keeps hanging on me with 100%
cpu on 1 of my cores. After some digging, I discovered that my
"filters.xml" is jumping to astronomical size after adding some new
conditions under my label filter.

Normally it is 36K, but it was sitting at 125M. The first time I saw
this I took it as a fluke, but now it has happened to me twice. "wc -l
filters.xml" showed 2666134 lines. After using vim ":%!uniq" it is now
at 962 lines. Thought this bit of info might help somebody out
there.

[Evolution] Smart Reader for Secure MIME

2015-06-04 Thread Justin Musgrove
Evo 3.16.2.1 EWS Fedora 22

I having an issue with evolution not detecting the smart card in my
smart reader. I have installed the necessary supporting files, like I
did for RHEL7, in which case evo 3.8 detected the smart card and worked
like a champ. Since then I upgraded to Fedora 22. Are there any special
supporting files that must be installed to allow evo to successfully
detect it? NOTE: Firefox 38.0.1 is successfully detecting the security
device.

[Evolution] EWS Outbox stays empty with option [Keep in Outbox]

2015-05-28 Thread Justin Musgrove
Fedora 22, Evo 3.16.2.1 EWS

Where is the [outbox] that the option "Send messages through Outbox
folder": "Keep in Outbox" uses? I assumed it is the "Outbox"
folder.

I see there is an outbox, but the folder stays empty after writing an
email and pressing the send button. Is this were the email stays until
the "Send/Receive" activated?

The option does work... emails are delayed until manually acted upon
from the "Send/Receive" button. Just the Outbox stays empty. Is this
the intended action?

[Evolution] "OR" statement in filter rules condition

2015-03-17 Thread Justin Musgrove
In the message rules, is there a equivalent to an "OR" statement within
a condition? One of my filter rules is dependent on the "sender" with a
variable of different subject lines. Adding an additional condition with
rule match to "any" won't work.

Example:
Sender: Contains: email address
Subject: Contains: Schedule OR Plan OR Docket OR Program OR Agendum

Does Evo already have mechanism already in place that addresses this
that I just missed?

Thanks guys!

Thank you all, for the fire-hose of information concerning mailing-list
netiquettes and good practice methods. I, being a *newbie* to
"mailing-lists", not *nix in general, now have full understanding to the
pros and cons in regard to different style message replies. From what I
can conclude, there is no absolute right way to reply. Therefor, every
message I post, will need to factor in a "Human" logic decision process
based on the context, addressee, purpose and public benefit factor as to
which method should best be utilized.

Again thank you for the education, plus an enjoyment factor more
entertaining than watching "12 Angry Man".

Weird, This message came across as only white-space. Yet the message was
available under the message source. And then again in the "repy"
message.

Thanks Milan!

Yep, I bet that is it. I've built some filters that will hopefully
process the messages as a work around.

I will have to wait for an update through my distro until then.

That's a nice feature, selecting only those parts to respond to.
Unfortunately, the global respond method is adhered to every time.

Since this mailing list requires a subscription, I will address my
responses to the mailing list, so that everybody benefits from the
answers.

Will the mailman ignore/bitbucket those messages that the source address
is not subscribed?

My apologizes for my ignorance with using an incorrect method. Is there
a method in evolution to prompt a different "reply" methods in lieu of
the global option?

That sounds like an excellent idea. I will start doing the same. For
now, I added another condition "Recipients, contains,
evolution-list@gnome.org"

I have found several times, I created a filter and had it not work
although it would work if specifically ran on the folder. I was able to
get it to work by adding an action at the bottom of the list of actions,
stating to Stop Processing. Can't figure why, but it does work. My
policy is to add a Stop Processing action at the bottom of every filter
"Just Because". I think there was a thread about just this, some time
ago.

Re: [Evolution] Mailing list filters

2015-03-13 Thread Justin Musgrove
The account is using the "EWS" protocol. I have ensured that evolution
is the only client accessing the mail server. The mailing list messages
are coming in with the "New" status. I have verified that filter is
under the "Incoming" tab under filters. I double checked that there are
not any active filter rules on the server.

I'm sure I am just over looking something.

You don't say what sort of account it is (imap, pop, ews, ...) but if
the message is being filtered correctly with Ctrl-Y then the filter
itself is working.

The issue is usually to do with what is a "New" message. If you have
another client looking at the same mail, then the mail will not be
considered "New" if that client sees it first - note that "Unread" is
not the same as "New". If the mail isn't New, then the filters won't be
applied.

There are some hints on sorting out filter issues in the Evolution help:

Help -> Contents -> Common Mail Questions -> Mail filters are not
working.

[Evolution] Mailing list filters

2015-03-13 Thread Justin Musgrove
First off, I am new to the Mailing Lists, so the issue that I am having
is probably related more to user error.

Using Evolution 3.8.5 on CentOS 7.

My issue is that I setup a "Mailing List Filter" for this "Evolution"
mailing list, but the filter isn't working automatically. If I press
then the message is processed properly. Filter should move the
incoming emails to a folder. I used the context menu (Create>Create a
Filter Rule for Mailing List...) off one of the mailing-list emails. I
ensured the "Apply filters to new messages in Inbox on this server" is
ticked. Still the message are not properly being filtered. This seems
like a simple task, yet I am unable to figure it out.

Below is an excerpt from the message source that I believe the filter
rule should be acting on. I am just over looking something here?
