Okay, I agree with you - it's not a bug!

[Evolution] GPS Coordinates

2017-07-21 Thread Rudolf Künzli
Evolution 3.24.4 Fedora 26

I entered the GPS coordinates into one of my contacts and clicked on
"Open Map" to verify it.
Unfortunately it didn't work out from here.
It works fine when I use it from Google Contacts (server) directly.
After some investigation I found out that in Evolution a comma is added
after the GPS coordinates causing the error!
That comma is not added within Google Contacts (server).
I guess that it's a bug in Evolution.
Any ideas?

[Evolution] Fetching mails from another mail account

2017-06-07 Thread Rudolf Künzli
I have a slight problem.
Evolution 3.22.6 Fedora 25

I did set up another mail account which I like to fetch into Evolution.
All is set up - pop and smtp as usual.
I did send a mail to that account and waited the message to be fetched
into Evolution. I can see it is fetched but the message doesn't show up
in the Inbox.
Can I debug/trace this operation?
Any help would be appreciated.

I think this is necessary where there are a few buildings with the same
address but with the addition "Building A", "Building B" and so on.
Bug?

I have to add I am working with Google contacts.

I did some further tests with the following conclusion:
- It does work correctly with local contacts
- If I add a second address line in Google contacts (server) directly
it works correctly and it will show up correctly in Evolution contacts.

For the moment I'll add further address lines in Google contacts until

I understand that so far, but has that to do with the menu handling?
It just looks that the menu item File->Preview points to the wrong

Hitting preview doesn't "preview the printed version as far as I can
see. Earlier I could see how the message will look on the printer.
Now it leads my directly to the very same window as the File->Print
does.

Right, and I always have problems with Google Calendars in Evo 3.20.5
with Fedora 24.
I read once that 3.22.5 should be somewhere in the Fedora Test

When I had these kind of problems I checked the keyring with Seahorse.
As far as I've seen I had to unlock "Login"... using the root password.
If it is locked the password cannot be written into the keyring.

As far as I know you may change this behaviour on the server. Just go
Settings -> Labels and a list of all "folders" is provided. You see
which ones are visible and which are hidden.
Modify them at your guts.
You'll have to restart Evolution for it will take effect.
Hope this will help.

The latest version, i.e. evolution-data-server-3.20.5-

working perfectly, both for the Calendar and other authentication

[Evolution] Organizing Preview Head

2016-08-17 Thread Rudolf Künzli
I don't know if this is the correct name but I try to explain.
In earlier versions when I modified the description bar on vertical
view (From, Subject, Date, etc) I had the possibility to force that
this modification took place for all folders and sub-folders.
Within 3.20.5, this feature is gone or I can't find it at least.
Is there a work-around. It's some what boring to modify all folders and
sub-folders manually.

Bouncing a mail, just did send the message back without any additional
text.
I used it the time for getting rid of disliked messages and I didn't

Sir,
You have all rights to call me an idiot even I am not such one.
When
I was much younger, in the 1985 I had an email function (BSD Unix) with
that one I could bounce a message.
I did get an disliked message and I
could just hit "bounce" instead of "reply"...
I simply did ask if such a
feature exists.
Thank you very much to call this behaviour to be
childish (my age is 71).
And just to complete the information on my
person,  I am a  founder of Autodesk, Inc, and a developer of AutoCAD
from 1982 to 1990...
I hope you have a nice day...

It's 3.20.3 evolution and the account is configured through GNOME
Online Accounts.
The problem did show up within 3.18.5 and GOA too...

I read the messages in the links provided above and I have to commit
that I am lost a little bit.

The workaround is to preload the SoupAuthManager with a pre-configured
SoupAuth when using OAuth 2.0 authentication. This avoids the initial
unauthorized HTTP round-trip.

How do I preload the SoupAuthManager with a pre-configured SoupAuth ?

[Evolution] Calendar problems

2016-06-16 Thread Rudolf Künzli
Hi

Most of time when I start up Evolution an error shows up.
I attached a screen shot for this.
As long the error shows up I can't add entries in my calendar (Google)
because it is marked "read only".

Evolution 3.18.5.2, Imap, GOA, Fedora 23 up-to-date

How can I chase this problem?

I have the same problem from time to time.
My calendar is on Google.
I usually did a Reboot of the system and it did work then...

Usually all programs are installed using the system language.

You may change the system language any time into French.

IMHO your public key should be attached/sent with your signature. In
that case I could store your public key on my system (evolution) and
use it directly to encrypt my messages sent to you.
Naturally I could
search on gpg.mit.edu, but getting the public key directly would make
my life more easy!

I
figured out that I had to move one folder (with sub folders) and wait
then until all sub folders had been moved completely.
Then I did the
same with the next folder...
Boring, but this worked...

Re: [Evolution] Meetings

2015-09-29 Thread Rudolf Künzli
Yes, I am using a Google Calendar.
The associated email address is rudolf.kun...@gmail.com
cur...@gmail.com is not configured in Evolution - at least I don't find
such one.
Performing "sudo find / | grep -i cur...@gmail.com" gives no result at
all...
I don't know who the heck is creating this email address...

[Evolution] Meetings

2015-09-29 Thread Rudolf Künzli
I am running Fedora 22, Evolution 3.16.5 with IMAP.
I stumbled over a small problem while using the New Meeting command.
When I send the invitation to the invited people the Sender of the
message is turned to cur...@gmail.com.
I only have one Sender defined which is rudolf.kun...@gmail.com
I am using curano on some forums as an ID but that's all...
Any ideas what to do here?
Thanks

Sorry for top-posting...

Yes, it did help!
I found in GMail (Web) that my nickname was set to "curano".
I deleted this.

Why is the invitation autogenerated by Gmail ?
I guess that the second one from Evolution is sent after I hit "Send",
right?
I'd love to have only one invitation to be sent...

Re: [Evolution] Signuture in the answer e-mail

2015-09-28 Thread Rudolf Künzli
Go to Edit Preference, select your mail account.
On Identity you find a field Signature and behind Add New Signature.-
Selecting Add New Signature opens the editor where you write youre new
signature and save it with a file name.
Done this, you select signature which opens a pull down menu with a few
choices, one of them should be your new signature.
Select this one and you're done.

   Hi,
right, that's the last resort solution.

The GOA interface usually shows when there is any issue with the
 token
and suggests to re-sign to the Google account. Maybe another issue
 happened to you, who knows.

The next time, (hope it won't happen, but ...) I'd try to delete the
password in the keyring, using for example Seahorse, then enter the
 GOA
interface and re-sign to the account. The difference between deleting
the account then recreating a new one and this password reset is
 that
the new account means downloading all the information again, like
 your
mail folders summary, list of contacts, calendar events and so on to
the local cache, which can be time and bandwidth consuming,
 especially
when you store hundreds of thousands of messages in GMail.

In any case, good it works for you again.
   Bye,

Well, the problem is not solved...
I spent some time to figure out when it happens.
Here is what I found out:
After I did re-setup GOA it works absolutely fine.
The moment I check one of the boxes Use in Birthdays Anniversary
Calendars or Mark as default address book in property of Contacts
(Google), the problem arises again...
For the moment I don't touch this boxes and it runs fine.
Anyway, something is going wrong here...
Is it GOA or Evo 3.16.4 in Fedora 22 ?

   Hi,
that's a good catch. The issue most likely resides in the evolution
-data-server, though also in the evolution, because it didn't claim
 the
error about failed open to the UI.

I see that after the change the corresponding contacts .source file
changes Authentication method to ClientLogin, while it should use
OAuth2. When I changed it to OAuth2 in
 ~/.cache/evolution/sources/goa
 -account-uid/another-uid.source and restarted all evolution
processes, definitely evolution-source-registry, then the book begun
 to
 work again.

I'd appreciate if you could file a bug against evolution-data-server
 in
GNOME's bugzilla with your description of the findings.
   Thanks and bye,
   Milan

I'd love to do so, but where is the place to file the bug?
A list? A link?

[Evolution] Can't modify/add contacts to Google Contacts

2015-07-27 Thread Rudolf Künzli
System: Fedora 22, Evolution 3.16.4, running GOA

Since a few days ago I can't add or modify contacts anymore.

While adding I am getting the error message:
You are attempting to move a contact from one address book to another
but it cannot be removed from the source. Do you want to save a copy
instead?
If I hit Yes the following message appears:
Error adding contact - Unknown error.

If y try to modify a contact the windows look very strange. All field
names are not highlighted (looks like read-only) and I can't add or
modify a content in any field.

Any ideas ?

Try to run the address book factory process from a terminal, together

I deleted the GOA for Google and did setup a new one (same email

It seems the problem did disappear as I could add/modify Google

   Hi,
right, that's the last resort solution.

   Bye,
   Milan

Thanks, Milan!

I'll handle it the way you proposed if it will show up again.
I don't hope so.
I don't have a huge load of mails and contacts, anyway...

Anyway, either Fedora or openSUSE on a desktop should provide a

Just a fyi Debian is also a good choice. Stable is released every 2-3
years and testing is a rolling release which includes Evolution
 3.16.3

I update my systems every day. It takes about 5 minutes for each one
which is not a high price when I consider that all of them are
running the most recent version.

The upgrade from Fedora 21 to Fedora 22 did run about 2 hours over the
network. It's worth to invest this time !

None of the options is direct connection. I see:
