[Evolution] Incoming message filters and IMAP

2010-06-23 Thread Sven Eppler
Hi There,

i want to use an incoming message filter to get all messages which
contain an In-Reply-To header colorized in some fancy color.

This works just fine if i select a message and do Apply
Filters (CTRL-Y) manually (Just guessing this menu item, becaus i'm
using a german interface).

But if i get new messages they don't get colorized. My current guess is,
that evolution only uses it's filters on incoming mail which lands in
the local Inbox like it would be, when i use POP3 to fetch my mails.

But i'm using imap, so maybe evolution isn't applying the filter rules
on IMAP-Accounts?

Just a guess, couldn't find real information anywhere else, so i'm
asking here.

Thanks in advance,
Sven

It works in your INBOX, if you select the right setting in the
preferences (something like apply filters to incoming mail, but I'm
also guessing as it's in French here).
But it doesn't work in subfolders. I think I opened a bug for this some
years ago, but I'm not sure.

Evo applies filters to new mail in the Inbox, whether it's POP or IMAP.
However you have to enable it for the account.
Edit-Preferences-account-Receiving Options-Apply filter to new
mail in Inbox on this server. (IMHO it should really say in this
account).

It's not clear from your post whether the messages you want to colourize
are already pre-filtered into some other folder. You can only filter new
messages in each account's Inbox. You can check for new mail in any
folder.
