Hello,
 
I need to come up with a Macro to populate 50 rows in column (E) Parent 
Category ID .

I have a table with the following columns: (A) Group ID, (B) Client ID, (C) 
Category ID, (D) Category Name, (E) Parent Category ID

I need to populate "Parent Category ID" column for the rows where "Category 
Name" = "sub category X for parent category Y" with a "Category Name" = 
"parent category Y"

Please see an attachment to understand the logic

I would appreciate any help!

Thank you for you prompt response.

One thing: I need to have an empty field in a "Parent Category" column if a 
"Category Name" = "parent category y"

Group ID Client ID Category ID Category Name Parent Category ID 0 3001 
101 parent category 1 (should be empty)
0 3001 102 sub category 1 for parent category 1 101 0 3001 103 sub 
category 2 for parent category 1 101
