Welcome Janki,

As for your query www.chandoo.org would be a good place to start learning.
There are a lot of other websites as well. If you have specific questions
do post them. A lot of people here would be willing to help.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: how to make a file expire after a period of time.

2013-08-03 Thread Anand Kumar
We can force the users to enable macros.
1. As 1st step code can be put up to enable macros else file would not open.
2. As 2nd step we can use macro to determine if the file has expired.
This way the desired functionality can be achieved.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Re: array formula

2013-04-03 Thread Anand Kumar
Hi,
To work on different sheets you don't always need array formulas. It is
possible that you need nested formulas for your work. e.g.
If you click on a cell containing formula and see something like:
{=SUM(A1:B100)}
This is an array formula. It is identified by the curly bracket in formula
"{ }". To enter formula as an array formula you type a formula and instead
of pressing enter you press Ctrl + Shift + Enter hence the name CSE
formulas.
If you click on a cell containing formula and see something like:
=IF(VLOOKUP(A1,$B$1:$D$100,3,0)<3,SUM(A1:A3),A1)
This is a nested formula which contains many formulas nested inside one
another. Nesting one formula into another is often useful and in most of
the cases you use this only.

In case you need array functions for your work you can search Google for
array functions and you will find many tutorials on the topic.

Warm Regards,
Anand

If you are using Excel 2007 or above

1. For random dates use :-

2. For random time Eugene Bernard's solution will work perfectly

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: credit card due date formula

2012-12-02 Thread Anand Kumar
Dear Hemant,

1. In your second column you can use EOMONTH() to find the last date of the
month. Instead of the long function you are using. (Useable with version
2007)
2. As you have 3 different cases for finding due date you should use 3
different columns.
3. I have used the following function to get desired results based on the
data provided in E column (Credit card date)

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: credit card due date formula

2012-12-02 Thread Anand Kumar
Dear Hemant,

1. In your second column you can use EOMONTH() to find the last date of the
month. Instead of the long function you are using. (Useable with version
2007)
2. As you have 3 different cases for finding due date you should use 3
different columns.
3. I have used the following function to get desired results based on the
data provided in E column (Credit card date)
*=IF(ISNUMBER(E2),TEXT(E2,"dd/mm/"),IF(ISTEXT(E2),E2,TEXT(C2,"mmm")))*

Hi,

Please find attached data file. The first sheet contains the data as it is
and sheet 2 has the data in format I need it to be.

@Don Gulliet: Manual copy paste with transpose is what I am doing right now

Hope this helps in suggesting a solution.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Need a macro for Out look

2012-03-25 Thread Anand Kumar
Hi,

Find the code below ... this would read the necessary things from Outlook
inbox into Excel sheet. You will have to do some modifications to suit your
own need. e.g. the code reads more than the subject of mail and sending
date you may want to delete them and it creates a new sheet everytime it
runs you may want to modify that section too

Copy paste the code in VBA editor. Go to Tools>References and find
Microsoft Office Object Library and Microsoft Office Outlook Library tick
mark to add them into references and run the code to test it.

Hope that helps,
Anand Kumar

Public Sub ReadOutlook()

Dim olApp As Outlook.Application
Dim olNamespace As Outlook.Namespace
Dim olItem As MailItem
Dim i As Integer
Dim olInbox As Outlook.MAPIFolder
Dim olFolder As Outlook.MAPIFolder
Dim lngCol As Long

Set olApp = New Outlook.Application
Set olNamespace = olApp.GetNamespace("MAPI")

Set olInbox = olNamespace.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderInbox)

Worksheets.Add

i = 2
For Each olItem In olInbox.Items
Cells(i, 1) = olItem.SenderName ' Sender
Cells(i, 2) = olItem.Subject ' Subject
Cells(i, 3) = olItem.ReceivedTime ' Received
Cells(i, 4) = olItem.ReceivedByName ' Recepient
Cells(i, 5) = olItem.UnRead ' Unread?
i = i + 1
Next

Range("F1").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=COUNTA(C[-5])"
Calculate
Cells(1, 1) = "Sender"
Cells(1, 2) = "Subject"
Cells(1, 3) = "Received"
Cells(1, 4) = "Recepient"
Cells(1, 5) = "Unread?"

For i = 1 To 5
Columns(i).AutoFit
Next i

Set olInbox = Nothing
Set olNamespace = Nothing
Set olApp = Nothing

End Sub

Hi Atul,

Rank function seems to work perfectly fine here Copied the name of
Institutions to A column and percentages to column B in C2 the formula was
=RANK(B2,$B$2:$B$11,0) now drag the formula till C11 you get the desired
result.
