RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ Conditional Sum or Sumproduct.

2010-10-08 Thread Chandra Gupt Kumar
Objective is to calculate Sale for the financial year 2009-10 (April 2009 -
March 2010 )for each staff no. Data are in sheet named 'DATA' in different
column. It Starts with Staff No. then Start Date, End Date, Sale Type, and
Amount (It is Sale per month during start and end period).

1. For example : if we have to calculate sale made by staff no.9465
during financial Year 2009-10, we see staff no.9465 and start with
identifying April 09 sale is at Row no 8 & monthly sale were 12850.00 (cell
E8) for April to June 10. Further, from July 09 to March 10, sale were 29100
per month. So, total sale for the financial Year should come : 12850*3(
April - June 09) +29100*9( July - March 10) =300450.00. Output required
against this staff no is 300450.00

2. Next if we calculate for Staff no.17442 , it comes 0 (Zero).
Because last data for him is for the period 01/07/2005 to 31/10/2007.

3. If we proceed to calculate for Staff No.17822, output should be
118200.00 . This is calculated in following manner; he sold for 9750 per
month from 01/10/2008 to 30/09/2009 ,since we are determining only for April
09 to March 10, we will consider 9750 for 6 months i.e. April 09- September
09. Further, sale for the period 01/10/2009 to 31/12/ is/expected to
9950.00. We again have to consider only period for April 09 to March 10, and
hence sale is :9950*6 (for October to March 10). Total sale by Staff No.
17822 is 118200.00 {(9750*6(April-Sep09 months) +9950*6(Sept 09-March 10) =
118200.)

Hope it helps you to solve the crux .

C.G.Kumar

Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ Automatic Detail Summary

Hello all!

I am building a complex spreadsheet to track 2 weeks of payroll and
projects. It needs to be a completely automatic document that can
calculate everything for itself. All that will be entered is the
hours.

So here's my problem. I have a simple master payroll table on one tab
that looks like this:

Project # Employee1/1/20101/2/20101/3/2010
1/4/20101/5/2010
Kevin 5 0 5 4 2
Julie 1 5 4 6 5
Logan 2 0 4 2 0
Ryan1 0 4 3 2
John0 4 4 8 2

My boss wants to have a detailed summary sheet for each project
number. He wants to only see the pertinent hours for said project on
that sheet. So he wants to see only this in the detailed sheet for
project :

Project # Employee1/1/20101/3/20101/4/2010
1/5/2010
Kevin 5 5 4 2
Logan 2 4 2 0
Ryan1 4 3 2

As far as I figure, I CANNOT do the following:
**Use a filter. It would be easy to filter the data in place, but to
get the data to the detailed project sheet, I would have to copy and
paste. It has to happen automatically. There will be a person
enetering hours everyday, but we have to assume that they are not
capable of anything else.
**Use a vlookup. As far as I am aware, a vlookup can't return a list
of mulitple occurences of the same value.

My ideas:
**Create a pivot table in the background, then somehow use a getpivot
formula to pull out only the relevant data? Can I somehow use
getpivot to return a whole section of a pivot table instead of one
cell? I know I can easily build the info in a pivot table...but how
do i make it automatic? how do I get this pivoted data to simply show
up in the other sheet?

**Use an index lookup to cross reference the employee names and dates
and return the pertinent hours. However, this would require that I
already have the list of dates relevant to the project. (maybe from a
pivot table again?)

Thanks for reading! Hope you have some ideas for me!

Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ Saving Files - Replacing existing files - "Yes to
All"

Hello,

I have an excel program that creates 6 different tabs and then
attempts to save these different tabs as files in a specified folder.
If the program has already run and the files already exist in this
folder, excel says "A file named 'D:\Spectra Files\SLB-H.SPC' already
exists in this location. Do you want to replace it?"

I can run through and say yes to every one of these files, but it
would be much more convenient to be able to say "yes to all". So the
program would then go through and replace every file it is attempting
to save.

Does anyone have any insight into how to make this work?

Thank you in advance!

Matt

DEAR POOJA ,

I FEEL IT WILL BE BETTER TO PROVIDE THE SOLUTION YOU YOU COULD EXPLAIN ME
THE EXACT FORMAT OF THE SOLUTION REQUIRED. THIS IS SO BECOZ SOMETIMES YOUR
EXTERNAL REFERENCE DOES NOT HAVE WORD "e-" or "e_"OR "E" AT ALL , WHEREAS
ON THE OTHER OCCASSION THE SOLUTION IS 16 CHARECTER ,17 CHARECTER AND SO ON
..

IT WOULD BE OF GREAT SUPPORT IF YOU COULD SPECIFY THE SOLUTION FORMAT LIKE

THE SOLUTION STARTS WITH "e-" AVAILABLE IN EXTERNAL PO NO SUCCEDED BY THREE
ALPHABETS FOLLOWED WITH "_" AND SIX DIGIT NO ...
*

THE ABOVE IS ONLY SAMPLE.. YOU MAY EXPLAIN ACCORDING TO YOUR REQUIREMENT ..

Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Help with user defined function

The problem is with the LOCATION of your UDF.

VBA itself will look in Personal.xls and Personal.xlsb,

but the Excel worksheet is NOT.

If you had a sheet called "Sheet1" and another called "Sheet2",

and you wanted the cell B4 of Sheet1 to display the contents

of cell C10 of Sheet2, you couldn't use:

=C10 in B4, because it would show you the contents of C10

in the CURRENT SHEET.

You would have to use: =Sheet2!C10

so that Excel knows WHERE the cell is located.

the same thing applies to Functions.

the worksheet looks in standard Excel functions, then

in the functions defined in the CURRENT WORKBOOK.

but it doesn't automatically go looking in other workbooks.

What you need to do is EITHER

put the function in the workbook where you intend to use it,

or..

use the Function Wizard to add the formula to the cell.

the last category entry of the Function Wizard is "User Defined".

You'll find that the function is inserted as:

=PERSONAL.XLS!VLOOKNEW(.

Alternatively,

Do the following,

1. Select the column where you want to apply the date format
2. Go to >Data>Text to Coulmn>Fixed Width>Click Next>Click at the end
of date (this will insert a column break)
3. Click Next>Select from Coiumn data format Date (DMY if u like)
4. Click Finish
5. You shall have your desired output without any long and cumbersome
formulae.

Hope u find it easy and use successfully.

Hi Kaustubh,

If you have these dates in column A, then try the following formula in
column B and drag it down. Thanks.

=DATE(RIGHT(A1,2),MID(A1,FIND(".",A1)+1,FIND(".",A1,2)-1),LEFT(A1,FIND(".",A
1)-1))

Solved workbook is also attached.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Computation of Tax payment Tax Code Wise.

2009-09-27 Thread Chandra Gupt Kumar
Dear Member,
Monthly i take report of Sales for the previous months with respect to which
Sales Tax is payable from our database. It gives in the format
attached.Since, for filling of return, i require the sales tax payable tax
rate wise, i have to mannualy insert a column and sort it first by CST then
by rate and then do the manual add the Sales, Sales tax and Invoice. For
example, i took the report for the month of 01.08.09 - 31.08.2009, (deleted
the more than 100 recods as it would have file bulky) and then did
accordingly to get the report as attached.

Could you provide a macro to ease the manoeuvre.

I am looking farward for your reply.

Regards,

Kumar

That means this two rows get seperated or colour change or get delected of

I am afraid that the macro you are looking for may not be possible since
name to be matched should be identical.

If you find some solution, please let me know also.

Please find attached a sample file in which I applied Pivot Table. The Row
label is based on Date but I require the Result on Month basis. I have to do
the manual work by inserting a column in which i put a dummy date of that
month against all entries of that particular month(Refer Col. B). Then only
I get desired result.

Please help if there is any way to get the desired result without doing
manual work.
