Dear Hemant,

You can protect your VB project with a good password and that would be the best
solution to your predicament! No one can then view your code, leave alone
modify them.

Sorry that I am unable to comment on the registry thing.

Hello.

1. You can protect the sheets with a password before closing the workbook and
removing the protection at opening, if macros are enabled.
2. Don't know. You cannot prevent action from another workbook macro.
3. If you want to prevent any change in your workbook, why don't you define a
password enabling only read only opens ?

Regards.

Macro experts : (Force to enable Macros, Disable design mode, make the
 project unviewable)

 Hi friends

I have learnt about excel macros by trial and error method and now I
have a moderate knowledge to write macros with which I am able to
 write small usable excel applications.

Lately I have written a macro which can extract financial data from an
accounting software (Tally) and prepare some of the financial
statements (in a format required by law with related computations and
disclosures). But because of my limited knowledge about VB, I am not
able to add some features to that workbook which I really want to
 add!!

Any help relating to the following will be highly appreciated:

 1)Force user to enable Macros:

I have already done this to some extent by using this trick:

a)While closing the workbook, I hide all the sheets except one
 which
contains instructions for the user about how to enable the macros.

b)When the user opens the workbook with macros disabled, he will
 see
that page, otherwise the normal sheets will become visible
programmatically and the sheet containing the instructions will be
 hidden.

Problem I am having here is how I can prevent the user from entering
the DESIGN MODE before he saves and closes the workbook?? You can
guess what will happen if he does that!

2)How to make the VBA project unviewable (not just locking for
viewing, I want to disable the VB editor itself if possible)

3)My workbook will necessarily make some entries to the system
registry as I plan to disable saving any changes to that workbook. I
want to know when there can be a risk of loosing the data on the
 registry.
Loosing that data may be fatal to some of the functions of my
workbook. Would it be a better option to save the data in a text file
 rather than on the registry?

 Thanks in advance friends :)

Hi

Been racking my brains for a few days but simply seem to have blanked out. I
have an excel file with the following headers.

Product|Version|Status|Date|Executive|Company Name|Contact|

Note: All the rows under the headers can be repeated multiple times. Filter
is an obvious method to get data fulfilling a criteria. But I would like to
avoid use of Filter

Is there any method wherein I can create a combo box on Company Name and
get a list of all corresponding entries under the Company Name thus
selected from the combo box. Further, is it possible to get only a unique
list in the combo box but on selection, display all the rows and columns
with the matching Company Name? This, is possible, would have to be done
in a new sheet. Its ok with me as long as the combo box and display
properties gets updated every time I update the list in the main worksheet.

By the way, I am using Excel 2007.

Thanks

There is no built in function in excel to do it. You have to use custom made
function for the same which are quite difficult to come by (even ASAP

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Leading zeros

2009-05-20 Thread Anil Kumar Agarwala

Dear John and all
Apart from the many solutions suggesting formatting as text or adding the '
sign, you could custom format the cell, thus retaining the number format and
having the leading zeroes at the same time.
For example if your numbers are of a fixed length of 6 digits so that 15
is to be displayed as 15, you could custom format the cell/cells using
the format cell dialogue box and typing 00 using custom format.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Date Problem

2009-01-30 Thread Anil Kumar Agarwala

Use the formula in cloumn 3

=IF(A5A6,B5,). Fill it in each row.

Then filter column 3 for non-blanks.

NB: It will be best if you format the data as a table (or excel list).

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Can I get Day from date in excel.

2008-10-15 Thread Anil Kumar Agarwala
Instead of using the nested IF function which makes the formula quite
complicated, you can just use the weekday and custom format your cell as
and get the desired result. Or as Dev suggested, Text(A1, ) works
just as fine.
