That's a good point, and perhaps a good solution.  There are others as
well.  Exchange is a poor document management system, but at least one

Instead of using ExIFS use HTTP. No limitations, no problems! Just
connect the public folder as a Webfolder using
http://servername/public/foldername.

Well .. plan was originally that it should work .. but real life situations
showed that you get major problems with rights and file extensions other
then doc and xls.

Want to give remote users acces to their file data?? Offer them NFuse as a
solution.

But my customer already have an exchange 2000 server, and from what I know I
think it should work also with exchange 2000.

Probably not as flexible as MS SharePoint Portal server but...
