Perhaps you are using the improper syntax?

Try typing 'a001 LOGIN SMITH SESAME where smith is the username and sesame
is the password.

RFC1730 described the additional commands in some detail as well.

Subject: IMAP POP3 logging on Exch5.5

 Hi All,

In Q182504 MS make out it's really easy to turn POP3 and IMAP logging on
and
off using a change to the Registry. They say that the next session will
activate the Registry change. Well, yes and no. On one server I can get
the
file handle on all but one log file released, on another I only get one of
 the 5 files released.
We need to log continuously as we have round the globe POP3 access and the
logs help us troubleshoot. But the logs keep growing and now take over 15
minutes to open, so I'd like to close them when they're quite small and
let
Exchange open new ones. And I don't want to keep restarting the IS.

 Any ideas?

 Many thanks,
 Eugene

RE: IMAP Contacts

2002-09-17 Thread KC Lemson

You should be able to *view* contacts from Outlook as long as Use
microsoft rich text format is checked on the IMAP virtual server
properties. You won't be able to make updates to them or add new ones
however. It will still display as an email folder, but once the items in
it are fully downloaded, they will appear as contacts.

Buy? Find a 486 or better, load your favorite Linux distro on it and you are

Require authentication to relay.

Does anyone know a good way to allow IMAP access while restricting SMTP
relay?

RE: IMAP client causes 13000 event log entry

2002-01-15 Thread Phillips, Alan

Go look at the profile for the client [mailboxname]. See
 what's funny -
ie. They're hitting the mailbox using MAPI and IMAP within the same
profile, with both trying to deliver to PST... Don't just fix it -
delete it and build it properly from scratch using only the
 services you
 need.

Not applicable in this case. I tracked down one user, and he's accessing his
mailbox from a Linux box using a client called KMail

Subject: IMAP client causes 13000 event log entry

All of a sudden, we are seeing quite a few occurences of download
failure involving IMAP 4 clients (servers are all Ex5.5SP4 on NT4SP6a,
running Norton AV 2.17)

The MSExchange IMAP4 Interface logs an error with ID 13000 and text:

An error (0x7da) occurred while rendering a message for download on
mailbox mailboxname

EventID.net has nothing on ID 13000; nothing in the group messages we
have stored; archives not working.

TechNet has a few KB articles on similar messages, but none with this
specific error code and all allegedly fixed well before SP4.

Anyone able to suggest what we might look for in this specific case or
what 0x7da indicates (it certainly doesn't make sense as a Win32 error
code...)?

Thanks

OK, I setup my Exchange box to do IMAP for my remote users
temporarily until I get some other stuff straight. When I run
Outlook on my home PC, email works fine, but my Contacts look
jacked. They look like emails with nothing in them. Why? Is
there anything I can do about this?

RE: IMAP

IMAP only groks e-mails. Not contacts. I use LDAP to get to the GAL and I
exported my Contacts folder to a pst and imported them into my Outlook at
home.
 Not perfect, but it works

RE: imap public folder

Did you create replicas of the folders on the new server and wait for them
to replicate? Did you change the home public folder server setting on the
user's mailbox server?

How can I move the root of an Imap public folder.
The real problem is that we moved public folders to a new server but
after stopping all exchange services in the root server , the clients can
not access to any Public Folder because we can use only one root.

The root was created in one server that we will desinstall
¿¿will it be changed after the desinstallation??
