RE: Move EXCH 5.5 from one NT domain to another

2002-01-22 Thread Darcy Adams

It's a pain in the backside, but entirely doable. I recently moved five servers from
on NT domain to another. Kept the same service account name and password to simplify
things.

I've got the whole thing fully documented, and am open to bribes.

I need to move my Exchange 5.5 sp4 server to another NT domain and need to
know if it is as easy and changing domain membership. It is a member server
in a Win 2K domain now and needs to be moved out to our NT4 domain. Nothing
else needs to change on it. Same name, same IP address, same DNS domain. I'm
hoping that it's not tied in any way to the netbios domain name, as it is to
the computer name.

FYI, I need to do this due to a failed W2K rollout that I NOTHING to do
with. Given the current status of the project (scrap it and start over) that
may not have been a bad thing.

If it's not that easy then I'll probably opt for the server move method.
Suggestions??

Subject: Move EXCH 5.5 from one NT domain to another

Quality is always preferable to quantity. A truffle or two will be fine.

Wow...that's expensive! :0P But a deal is a deal...you may not get as big
a box of Dilettante as you would have gotten if it was Dove, but it's
quality vs. quantity. :0)

See ya at MEC...I'll be the guy with a box of dark chocolate truffles (or
something) in hand!

Would a bag of chocolate or a margarita at MEC 2002 take care of that bribe

same thing, sooner or later.

RE: Move EXCH 5.5 from one NT domain to another

2002-01-22 Thread Darcy Adams

Yep - actually less than that. I think it was five minutes per in real life, but I
asked for 15 minutes at the change board meeting, just in case.

YMMV, depending on how much is in the work queues when you start, and your hardware
configuration.

RE: Move EXCH 5.5 from one NT domain to another

2002-01-22 Thread Leeann McCallum

I recently had 6 domains which I consolidated into 1 with no probs
whatsoever. Didn't take too long per server, I used a 3rd party tool which
I don't' think is generally recommended, but hey...it worked for me and my
mgmt were happy with the timeframe it provided. Just make sure you're
backups are good in case the thing sux a kumera.
