2003-01-23 Thread John Matteson
Okay.. So no wonder it's quick; it's not a FE/BE setup where OWA had to
go over the wire to get to the mailbox. Even so, it's has a very snappy
response.

A relatively crappy machine. Intel 2150 with a single 650MHz CPU, 256MB
RAM. No RAID volumes. Four IDE drives. The machine was originally built
as a temporary backup solution to store the NTBACKUPs from our
production Exchange servers while we were straightening out our Legato
backup solution. Then I snatched it for my testing purposes.

Actually this whole Titanium setup including the OS, page file, Active
Directory, Exchange BIN, Exchange transaction logs, and Exchange EDBs
and STMs is installed on the C: drive. I just did not feel like
optimizing it for no reason.

RE: Titanium OWA screenshots

2003-01-21 Thread Andrey Fyodorov
big visual difference. Titanium OWA has new features too that OWA 2000 doesn't have -
spell check, mark messages read/unread, flag messages.

Well, technically Titanium is version 6.5, so it's only a point upgrade
to Exchange 2000 (version 6.0)

If you want a faster more responsive and easier on clients OWA then E2k3
is
much superior to E2k2.
Migrating from 5.5 to E2K3 is also much more smoother.
If you are going to use any wireless PDA, Pocket PC etc then E2K3 is the
answer.

2003-01-21 Thread Andrey Fyodorov
Well you let them learn the ropes on OWA E2K, then dazzle them with OWA E2K3 later,
you show them a preview and make them beg for it. Then you will be their hero when you
finally release it.

Re: Titanium OWA screenshots

2003-01-21 Thread M2web
If you want a faster more responsive and easier on clients OWA then E2k3 is
much superior to E2k2.
Migrating from 5.5 to E2K3 is also much more smoother.
If you are going to use any wireless PDA, Pocket PC etc then E2K3 is the
answer.

Well, technically Titanium is version 6.5, so it's only a point upgrade
to Exchange 2000 (version 6.0)

Since Titanium has not yet been released to manufacturing yet and given
your time frame of < 3 months, I would migrate to Exchange 2000.

RE: Titanium OWA screenshots

2003-01-21 Thread Andrey Fyodorov
The OS is Win2K Advanced Server SP3.

To get the most features of Titanium one would need the .NET for OS. Although I think
those features are not OWA-related.

Exchange 2000 is much better than 5.5 in many ways, radically in some ways. Titanium
is just a better version I am not finding it radically different from 2000.

I noticed some interesting things:

It asks for credentials to log off.
It asks me for my Front Page CD
I cannot figure out how to use spell check.
It has a box at the bottom right hand corner that tells me I have
new mail.

I like it! ;P

After you get the error message that spellcheck can't run, try running it
again. For some reason it takes a few tries.

Maybe now that we put some "load" on it, it is starting to misbehave :)

RE: Titanium OWA screenshots

2003-01-21 Thread Andrey Fyodorov
not really. Pretty much a straightforward Exchange installation.

I had some issues with earlier beta, but this one went smoothly.

I am having issues with ADSI Edit freezing on me though - I created some sub-OUs and
now every time I try to expand a sub-OU it freezes. I was using the sub-OUs to make
UPN Suffixes instead of assigning them to individual users (titan2.com is not the real
domain name under which Exchange is installed)

RE: Titanium OWA screenshots

2003-01-21 Thread Andrey Fyodorov
After you get the error message that spellcheck can't run, try running it again. For
some reason it takes a few tries.

Maybe now that we put some "load" on it, it is starting to misbehave :)

RE: Titanium OWA screenshots

2003-01-21 Thread Reed, Alexander
I noticed some interesting things:

It asks for credentials to log off.
It asks me for my Front Page CD
I cannot figure out how to use spell check.
It has a box at the bottom right hand corner that tells me I have
new mail.

I like it! ;P
