Re: Event ID 4128 and Event ID 4093

2001-11-17 Thread Mark Hanji

hmmm

If you get hit by the nimda virus, it can spread via OWA.
I think it is a good idea to run file-server-based anti-virus on the
exchange server,
to scan webdata directory.

What do you think?

RE: Event ID 4128 and Event ID 4093

2001-10-30 Thread Stephen Mynhier

It is true that any file based scanner can cause a plethora of problems on
an Exchange server. IS crashes, 1018 errors, etc., But _personally_ I have
only witnessed ServerProtect BSOD an Exchange 5.5 box. I have seen other
AVs do it to previous versions of Exchange.

Well, I'm troubled by that exclamation point. May I suggest you stop the
IMS, move the file out of that directory, then start the IMS? Look at the

2001-10-29 Thread Ed Crowley

Good point. Are you running a file-based antivirus product on your Exchange
server? Did you exclude the \exchsrvr\*data directories? If you didn't,
you're lucky that this is all that's wrong.

Do you have a need for it? Are you serving anything else from the Exch

If not, I would remove it. If you are, you need to exclude the exchsrvr
folders from the scan.

RE: Event ID 4128 and Event ID 4093

2001-10-29 Thread Martin Blackstone

What he said.

IF you are only using the server for Exchange, the Scanmail will be
enough. The only access your users have to the server is through
Exchange (no mapped drives, etc) so the chances of a virus transmitting
to the server are slim providing you stay well patched.

Now if you are in one of those unfriendly situations where you are using
your Exchange server for something like file/print services, you may
need a file level scanner. In which case you could put Server Protect
back on, but you need to exclude the Exchsrvr folders to avoid
corruption.
