RE: Recipient Policies
Not true, the RUS will stamp the addresses as per the Recipient Policy when the new account appears on the domain controller it looks at. Perhaps you are thinking of mailbox rights which are only created whenever the user first logs in or the delivery of the first piece of mail. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tony Hlabse Sent: 12 January 2004 19:14 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Recipient Policies When you create a new mailbox the smtp address doesn't get show until the user logs in although the address is valid. RE: Recipient Policies
If there are problems with the RUS, generally you will see the errors while the System Attendant starts (because this is the process that manages the RUS). When troubleshooting RUS problems I generally only need to work with one RUS from the domain that is having the problems to see where the problem is. As long as each server running the RUS has the same set of \exchsrvr\address DLL's your problem should happen on ever server hosting the RUS for that domain (thus you should only need to restart 1 RUS to troubleshoot). I try to put the RUS's on bridgehead servers for just such a reason (needing to restart the SA to troubleshoot it). If a server that is hosting the RUS is missing an address dll, it will generally stop stamping all together and you will get a very specific error when the SA starts. You can try to move RUS to another server and see what happens. In the RUS config, you have two knobs to twist - the RUS home server and domain controller. Try different combos and see what happens. Hi, Hope that someone can help me: Exchange 2000 Clustering One Organization 3 Storage Groups per Virtual server, each Storage Group represents a region 5 Databases per Storage Group Need to have an e-mail address for every region: Example: @north.company.com @south.company.com etc. Recipient policies don't work using OU as a filter (KB296112), neither does it work using Exchange Store. Using logon names won't work (1 users). Does anyone have an idea how to apply recipient policy based on OU membership or Mailbox store? RE: recipient policies
You can assign User Principal Names to your users and then create recipient policies based on the UPN suffixes. -Original Message- From: Robert Jan Duyverman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, February 10, 2003 8:12 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: recipient policies Hi, Hope that someone can help me: Exchange 2000 Clustering One Organization 3 Storage Groups per Virtual server, each Storage Group represents a region 5 Databases per Storage Group Need to have an e-mail address for every region: Example: @north.company.com @south.company.com etc. Recipient policies don't work using OU as a filter (KB296112), neither does it work using Exchange Store. Recipient Policies
All, I'm trying to update my default recipient policy to add another SMTP address. But when I create new users it doesn't seem to apply the policy and create the SMTP address that I want. I'm using [EMAIL PROTECTED] Any ideas? Am I missing something here? RE: Recipient Policies
Do you have a recipient update service defined for the AD domain? Did you force application of the policy to be sure it ran? It isn't instantaneous, you know. Recipient policies don't work?
There are two default policies one called Default recipient policy and the other called after the site name of the exchange 5.5 site that we joined when installing the e2k server. The exchange 5.5 site recipient policy is set to the highest priority (we can't change this). I have created a user account in the w2k domain with a value of companyA in the company field of AD users and computers for this account. I created a recipient policy called companyA and set the filter to look for all users and groups with the company name set to companyA and the email address is companyA.com. I have set this to be the primary address. When I hit FIND in the recipient policy the account is found! However the email email address is never set on the account, instead the default email address from the exchange 5.5 site is set. I have checked the filter on this policy and it is set to apply to everyone!? If I am correct, when a recipient policy is found that matches an object no further matches are attempted. Based on this the behaviour is not surprising but I must be missing something as this can not be correct? Any help would be appreciated. Applying Recipient Policies
I don't seem to be able to apply more than one recipient policy. Exchange is in mixed mode so I have the policy from my 5.5 server. That's the only policy that will apply to new users. But since I can't modify it, I've created another policy to add another SMTP address. And then there's the Default Policy that's been set up to allow access to OWA. Our 5.5 policy is listed as Highest, the Default Policy is listed as Lowest. The other policy is listed as priority 2. What are some reasons that the other two policies won't apply to new users? I updated RUS after creating the new policy. Believe me, I've tried. But I just receive a message saying that it cannot be deleted. Nor can I move it up or down. 2 default recipient policies
I have Exchange 2000 running in mixed mode as we are slowly cutting everything over from 5.5. I've run into a problem where email addresses are not being generated properly. When someone receives an email it has the what looks like the X400 address with the SMTP attached on the end. I've tracked the problem down to having 2 recipient policies. The default one is correct and is set at lowest priority. Another one is there with the incorrect filter and is set at highest priority. Unfortunately I cannot delete it. Is there any trick to get rid of this so I am only left with the default? Programatically Creating Recipient Policies With ADSI
Hi there, I wonder if someone could help me. I can create Exchange 2000 Recipient Policies successfully using ADSI however in order to kick start the policy off I still need to right click on the policy in the Exchange System Manager and do Apply this policy now. After this, the policy runs correctly on all new and updated users that it applies to. The Recipient Update Services are also set to Always Run. Is there a call for Apply this policy now that I can put in my code? Cheers Steve Appleyard. _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
