Yes, you have been away from the states for too long. We do indeed use guys to refer to collective groups of people, including women. Chicks is viewed as rather offensive. This list doesn't need to have controversy, or it needs to have less of it. While I have always received help over the list, it seems to me that there are some that are much too quick to become attacking over the list, especially considering this is a list for everyone, and I am betting that a lot of people don't have english as their first language. This was rather mild, but incidents such as the great scrabble war over the list of 2009 do not need to happen.
