Supposedly, this guy lost that much yesterday in the stock market. But he's
still got billions left. So, it's a matter of pushing paper for this guy.

Yup, the market can go up and down but it doesn't change the fact that
there is too much inequity and corruption going on.

Not necessarily. That's just one of the theories of how the universe will
end. There's one theory similar to the Big Rip which states that the galaxies
at the edge of the universe will eventually reach the speed of light and will
disappear from our observable horizon. At the speed of light, the activity of
those galaxies will freeze and time will stop for anyone or anything in it.
For all practical purpose, those galaxies will have turned into light.

Using the ideas from Roger Penrose, it is possible that the universe will once
again explode into another Big Bang eons after all of the universe have gained
the speed of light or have turned into light.

The question is should human beings be allowed to have this much money
and power. A whim of theirs can destroy the lives of millions. Human
beings are just not that bright or capable of handling any more than a
few million dollars. Most of these people have their wealth managed by
firms but those firms have one goal in mind: making as much money for
their client as they can whether the process is ruthless or not.

You're now getting into the morals and integrity of the man. We don't know
what he does with his money. We don't know what kind of good he's done with
them.

[FairfieldLife] Re: Rise of the Cultural Libertarians

2015-08-25 Thread s3raph...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]

Let's hope they win this war. I should say we win rather than they win as
cultural libertarian pretty much describes my position. In the presence of
self-described left-wing libertarians I tend to feel like a right-wing
libertarian; in the presence of self-described right-wing libertarians I tend
to feel like a left-wing libertarian.

Just the other day we learned that a proposed showing of Mohammed cartoons in
London has been cancelled (as everyone knew it would be) as all the venues
contacted were concerned about the security of their staff. The exhibition was
of course provocative - even deliberately offensive. There's a lot of posturing
and grandstanding on the part of the organisers. But at the end of the day
we're not living under sharia law and if someone wants to put on provocative or
offensive events then be my guest.

Remember the days of the underground press - like London's Oz magazine?

A new force is emerging in the culture wars. Authoritarians of all stripes,
from religious reactionaries to left-wing “social justice warriors,” are coming
under fire from a new wave of thinkers, commentators, and new media stars who
reject virtually all of their political values.

From the banning of Charlie Hebdo magazine across British university campuses
on the grounds that it promoted islamophobia, to the removal of the video game
Grand Theft Auto V from major retailers in Australia on the grounds that it
promoted sexism, threats to cultural freedom proliferate.

But a growing number of commentators, media personalities and academics reject
the arguments that underpin these assaults on free expression, in particular
the idea that people are either too emotionally fragile to deal with “offense”
or too corruptible to be exposed to dangerous ideas.

Using Nadi astrology principles, his birth chart shows a complicated way to
winning the presidency since his major period lord (Jupiter) is placed in the
inauspicious 8th house.  However, the cusp lord is Rahu and is placed in the
10th house of career.  So, in effect, the weak Jupiter manifested in the recent
death of his son, but the Rahu connection can propel him to run for the
presidency and could beat Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and any of the
Republican candidates.
Why?  Because the US natal chart will be running its Rahu period during the
presidential election as well.  It would appear that his platform would be
rather controversial which would support issues favoring undocumented aliens,
planned parenthood, same-sex marriage,  LGBTQ rights, raising taxes for the
rich, and reduction of the national debt.  He will favor a tough mandate to
fight against terrorism and encourage the development of high technology
industries-- possibly including the colonization of Mars.

Personality wise he is rather a damp washcloth and a bit of a hard sell
to the public. He has championed some things in the past that will make
him controversial.

What is happening now is that Bernie Sanders is getting a lot of
traction which scares the beejeezuz out of capitalists. So they counter
with Buzz Windrip Trump. But you can't run a government like a
corporation. There is a word for that and it is called fascism.

[FairfieldLife] Should Joe Biden Run for Prez?

2015-08-25 Thread jr_...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]

Just the other day we learned that a proposed showing of Mohammed

as all the venues contacted were concerned about the security of their
staff. The exhibition was of course provocative - even deliberately
offensive. There's a lot of posturing and grandstanding on the part of
the organisers. But at the end of the day we're not living under
sharia law and if someone wants to put on provocative or offensive
events then be my guest.

Remember the days of the underground press - like London's Oz magazine?

What would you want? The same ol' same ol' inequality?

Stock markets crashing is certainly not the answer to solving anything. It can
be a temporary leveling of a playing field if it is as severe as the one in
1929. Other than that it will take a wholesale revamping of the economic system
in North America for any long lasting and significant reform to happen. When
something falters it often just takes time for things to build again. Do I wish
there was more equality in the economic status of my fellow human beings? You
bet I do but it would take a full scale revolution and the establishment of old
school Communism to make this happen and even then you'll have the greedy guts
living high on the hog (through illicit gains) in both the military and the
government. There will always be those who feel they deserve more than the next
guy and will do anything to ensure they get it. Making lots of money is not the
problem. Human nature can be a problem and how they choose to spend that money
is more often than not completely self centered and frivolous.

Those who have investments in the market can lose or win depending upon their

Subject: [FairfieldLife] Is the Universe Fading Away Slowly?

Just the other day we learned that a proposed showing of Mohammed cartoons in

Exactly. Wealth does not necessarily equate with corruption and greed. There
are always the aspects of wealth accumulation that involve dissemination of
goods, or services or the creation of jobs, opportunity or advancement. Nothing

Sure, it's a gamble and a game. Some are smiling and some are weeping.
Some positively thrive on this stuff. One thing for sure, what goes
down will come up again and what goes up will fall at some point. This
also applies to the male genitalia.

Yes and no. For the foreign employees this is most likely a strike of good
fortune in that they are most likely making more money than ever.

This does nothing for solving wealth inequality.
Not as universal application or effect but if you can give 100 or 1000 people
from a third or second world country a decent paying job then it can amount to
a start.

Not me personally but perhaps my portfolio manager did. I'll let him sweat.
However, I happened to be listening to the CBC news this morning and they were
interviewing a woman who works at one branch of the large investment firm where
I have my money and she basically said their current course of action would be
to sit tight at this point until the market evens out. I've weathered the
demise of Encon and Worldcom so I guess I can hang tight here.
