Doctors say “just do it.”

Go do a workout. Exercise regularly. Do it often.

But “just do it” doesn’t tell you what to do.

So, researchers have started to work toward “prescriptions for exercise.” The
goal? Give you a better idea of the exact type of exercise you should be doing
to achieve specific health benefits. They aren’t quite there yet, but…

Here’s just some of what they’ve found:

Middle-age people with high levels of cardio fitness appear to have an 8 times
lower risk of dementia over the next 44 years (and that’s compared to those
with “moderate fitness”
)…Link:

High intensity exercise increases brain activity in the areas of our brains
impacted by Parkinson’s disease

studies show increased glucose uptake in regions impacted by Alzheimer’s
)…Link:

Combined training improves mitochondrial function

help slow down oxidative damage (a core cause of aging)…Link:

response to cancer

the same time, muscular exertion can produce new brain cells…

In one study, exercise was just as effective as drugs for people at risk of
heart disease and diabetes (here’s the study
)…Link:

And in another, more than 50% of 64 adults in this study

were able to stop taking their blood sugar medication after 1 year of
following a workout program…Link: https://www.bmj.com/content/347/bmj.f5577
There are countless studies just like these….
They all agree that exercise is beneficial, but doctors also recognize:

Not all exercise is created equal. That’s why they’re so set on studying the
differences.

Now, of course doing something is better than doing nothing.

But…

When it comes to getting the most out of each workout, here are some mistakes
you should avoid…

If you’re going to start exercising again, make sure you aren’t making these
mistakes.

Stay Lean,

Shin
