I believe that the thugs that infiltrated the previously peaceful protest in SJ 
are unaffiliated with any political party. In fact, if one were to ask them to 
name a party, they probably couldn't come up with even one. I am glad that many 
of them were arrested but unfortunately, some managed to escape.
They are just opportunists looking for any chance to cause mayhem. The thugs 
probably don't even know the definitions of the words conservative and liberal. 
 They probably aren't even registered to vote.
I think that many of the them don't even know who Sanders or Clinton are. They 
only recognize Trump. These violent folk probably skipped class when their 
history teachers were talking about Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King, 
Jr., Rosa Parks, Dolores Huerta, and Cesar Chavez. 

Also, the violence did not happen inside the rally, it happened outside the 
convention center, while the rally goers were walking back to the nearby 
parking lot.  Still, no excuse for violence.

 The SF Bay Area is probably about the "bluest" area of the country.  I 
only know one Trump supporter around here.  I picked up a Democratic Party 
ballot yesterday at the county elections office so I could vote for Bernie.  
The polling place for my precinct has been moved two miles away (rather than 
around the corner) yet I drive right past the election office three times a 
week and they have early voting there.  Rather than fill out the ballot there 
they give you an envelope to mail it in or just drop it off which I will do on 
Saturday.

Trump was supposed to meet with local radio host Ronn Owens of KGO 810 and have 
a short interview.   KGO was willing to take their equipment to Burlingame so 
that Ronn Owens could meet with Trump and the other GOP presidential candidates 
for interviews.  Trump's campaign backed out of the interview the night before. 
 Nothing was finalized with the other candidates.  Trump did have a phone 
interview with a radio host from KMJ 560, a right wing radio station from 
Fresno, about three hours away from the SF Bay Area.
Ronn Owens is a moderate liberal who is not an *** kisser and does not take any 
b*** from the people he interviews.  The host from Fresno seemed to be an 
*** kisser, drooling over Teh Donald. (at least judging from his interaction 
with him on the radio.)  (I'm not sure why my radio gets that station which is 
a few hours away from where I work and live.)
Anyway, I think that Trump's campaign snubbed Ronn Owens and KGO, because they 
thought that the questions that Ronn Owens would ask would be too hard for Teh 
Donald, and might make him look bad.   I think that the California contingent 
of his campaign staff researched the California radio stations and radio hosts 
in order to decide who would be the best for Trump to speak with.

I don't know about that. I was a Green for many years, and recently 
re-registered as Democrat for a variety of reasons.  As long as Clinton and 
Sanders play nice, I will stay a Democrat.  If they start attacking each other 
too much, I'm taking my toys and going home.  (figuratively speaking)

anyone except Trump. Even Ted  Cruz would be preferable but only because by 
voting for him you are hopefully denying Trump delegates. But my question is, 
if you insist on being a Repugnant Republican then  why not Kasich? At least 
the guy seems somewhere in the middle of crazy rather than on the extreme 
either end of it.

This makes no sense. The people sending money to Mexico could be here legally 
OR illegally. There is no way of knowing without asking for ID or paperwork. 
Who will enforce this? Also, many 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation Mexican Americans 
send money to relatives in Mexico.  Another thing, some religious organizations 
might send money to other religious organizations or even charities in Mexico.  
Does Trump plan to seize this money also?

    That's pretty much how I figured he would do it, except  I was thinking 
more in line of a tax on money transfers to Mexico. The plan really sounds 
reasonable.. They (illegals) violate our immigration laws and the Mexican 
government actually encourages it because they are the beneficiaries of illegal 
immigration. They need to pay their *fair share* of the problem that they help 
to create. Mexico doesn't tolerate Central Americans illegally immigrating to 
their country. Ten billion is a small price to pay to keep an annual cash flow 
of 25 billion. I don't really understand how you can call that *stooping low*.

Many people who work full time at minimum wage depend upon food stamps because 
the majority of their income goes toward housing expenses, utility bills and 
other expenses, leaving very little left over for food.

    Well the last I heard, there were over fifty million people on food 
stamps alone. If you can't afford to feed yourself, how are you going to pick 
up and move to a foreign country and set up house keeping? I'm sure there are 
plenty of unemployed people that would like to work but there aren't enough 
jobs, although at least 11 million illegal immigrants haven't had any trouble 
finding some. It might require new policies to attract manufacturing back home. 
Seems to be much cheaper and economical to do business over seas and bring your 
product back here to sell.

    That's why these guys are having success. People on both sides are tired of 
the back room deals.Democrats have been pushing Socialism since FDR and just 
haven't bee able to admit it. If they told the truth nobody would elect them. 
They used to act insulted if you called them socialist. Now they're about to

Republicans or RHINOs just want to be *loved*. So, they'll give into almost

Bernie will get nothing done. He won't be able to deliver on his freebies 
because there will be no way to pay for them. He has already admitted that he 
will raise just about everyone's taxes and that is where the Republicans will 
draw the line. They will be unelectable in their districts and states.

I don't have a problem with billionaires owning football teams.  I don't like 
it when medium sized cities like Santa Clara spend millions of dollars toward 
building stadiums that the football owners (and private investors) should be 
paying for.    I think that the owners of the 49ers (and private investors) 
should have paid for all of Levi Stadium, not part of it, leaving the 
unfortunate taxpayers Santa Clara to pay for a good portion of it.
I heard on the radio that the Mayor of Oakland would like a new stadium for the 
Oakland Raiders; however, she doesn't want any city funds to go toward it.  She 
is a smart woman!

There are many incentives for billionaires to buy football teams.  They make 
more by doing so,  which thus reinforces their egos and image of success.  But, 
in practical terms, football teams are expensive and are good reasons for 
billionaires to get tax deductions for their other sources of income.
Specifically, football players can be amortized like cars as they age and 
become injured.  The amortization costs could significantly reduce the gross 
earnings.  Thus, the owners don't have to pay much taxes for the earnings they 
take in.  But these are all legal in the eyes of the IRS.

Actually law enforcement will probably be more worried aboutprotests over 
having the Super Bowl here.  The Bay Area is asports nuts community.  Sports 
stuff involving local teams can topthe local news stories which is ridiculous.  
However local fanstend to be less interested in the Super Bowl (other than an 
excuseto drink lots of beer and eat fattening foods) if none of thelocal teams, 
especially the 49'ers, aren't playing. They alsodon't like the idea of their 
tax dollars going to fund stadiumsthat will help make rich people even richer.

That makes sense.  Santa Clara only has about 120,000 (or so) people, and 
doesn't draw as many tourists or convention goers as Houston or San Francisco 
or even nearby San Jose.

    What the city of Houston did was tax hotels and car rentals and use that 
for building stadiums. The fans got their stadium  which attracted or kept

You're making good points. But the other side of the coin is that the city of 
Santa Clara got the 49ers to move down there.  If the city planners are right, 
the team and the stadium should be bringing in a lot of business and money to 
the city itself.  The local businesses, especially those near the stadium, 
should have a significant increase in their income.  From what I understand,  
Joe Montana, the former 49er QB, should be making a lot of money from his 
investment in building a hotel near the stadium.
Also, the current mayor of Oakland is a very efficient manager, who is much 
better than the last one.  If she can attract private investors to build a 
stadium for the Raiders without city funds, that would be an admirable and  
Amazonian feat.  If she can do it, she might rise in the California political 
circles.  If she's a Democrat, she could potentially replace any of the state 
senators, or even Dianne Feinstein or Barbara Boxer for federal senator.  
However, she would have stiff competition from Kamala Harris, the person whom 
the Democratic inner circle is grooming to replace Feinstein, IMO.

 It isn't what "I claim."  The movement is not, in principle or intention, a 
violent movement and does not promote violence.  That doesn't mean that 
violence won't erupt.  The civil rights movement under MLK wasn't violent 
either, but that didn't stop violence from erupting on both sides or other 
groups who were violent from forming.  Just because you choose to ignore what 
you don't want to believe doesn't make it true. The woman in the video (who was 
not with BLM and that was stated on Fox at the beginning of the video) made 
that video in response to a very real situation she was reacting to, if what 
she and her lawyer says is true.  She was brandishing a firearm, running down a 
pretty good rap (actually lyrically in tone I thought), and "defending" 
herself, right?  I'm against violent protests.  I'm for gun control.  I 
understand, as an outsider, why the black community is rallying for change.

In a blow to the youth sports community, a judge on Tuesday denied the Santa 
Clara Youth Soccer League's request to temporarily kick the NFL out of a soccer 
park next to Levi's Stadium -- the latest salvo in what's become an all-out 
legal war pitting soccer parents against the city and the NFL just one month 
before the Super Bowl lands in the Bay Area.

 The Super Bowl this year is being hosted in the SF Bay Area.  You might 
think people would be thrilled but this IS one of the most liberal parts of the 
US.  The Super Bowl is a big commercial deal.  People are upset because their 
day-to-days for that weekend will be messed up.  To make things worse the NFL 
asked for 500 volunteers to be part of the half time show.  No pay, no gifts 
and you don't even get to see the game.  One local talk host said the NFL could 
go "screw themselves". 
 
 They are also asking for unpaid volunteers elsewhere.  Even out here folks on 
the local news blog were discussing the private jets that will probably flying 
in and out of Buchanan Field as the rich arrive to watch the game and how 
annoying that will be.  Is this what life would be like under Trump?
