Re: [FairfieldLife] A Charlie Lutes audio 'The Highest Teaching'

2014-10-03 Thread jimonthemov...@gmail.com [FairfieldLife]
According to Bob Brigante, Charles Lutes had previously studied the occult
under Manly P. Hall and he was a member of the Rosicrucian Fellowship.
Apparently Lutes was reluctant to give it up which was one of the reasons why
Lutes was not on the MUM board of trustees.

Probably not the most important correction every made on FFL by a long shot,
but I remember Charlie Lutes being on the MIU Board of Trustees in the mid to
late seventies.

[FairfieldLife] Looking For A TM Teacher from the 1970's

2014-08-04 Thread jimonthemov...@gmail.com [FairfieldLife]
HI Folks. A friend learned TM in Lancaster, PA in 1972. Except for a brief
period in FF in the 1980s, she has lived in Europe and has had no contact with
the TM organization for over 20 years. She has been wondering recently about
the two TM teachers who taught her initial course (a married couple). She
remembers them fondly and wondered if any one knew of them. However, she is no
longer sure of the spelling of their names. As far as she can recall: Carmen
(husband) and Mia (wife) Sarancino (definitely unsure about the spelling of the
last name). She knows that the couple divorced some time in the 1980's.

I thought I would throw the question out on FFL and see if any one has any
information.

Best,
Jim

HI Share. Thanks very much for this information - this is exactly what we're
looking for. I appreciate it. It sounds also that Wes would be a good person
to get to know.
Thanks again,
Jim

 Hi Jim and spouse,
There's a room for meditators above the Orpheum Theater at the northeast
corner of Broadway and 2nd St. Go around to the north entrance which faces the
alley and municipal parking lot. There's an outer door marked for group
program. Go up the stairs and down the hall, turn left, and down another hall
you'll see a big sign indicating the room for meditators. Doors open at 7:15 am
and 4:45 pm.

If you arrive a little early you might run into a fellow named Wes. He and his
wife retired here recently from Chicago. If you visit the first Friday of the
month, that's when we have Art Walk and the galleries are open in the evening.
Otherwise it's a pretty quiet town. Welcome and have fun!

Hi Folks. My spouse and I are visiting FF in a couple of weeks. We both were
involved in the TM movement throughout the 80's to about 1994 (in Fairfield
from about 1989-1994), but have had zero involvement with the movement since
then. We have continued with TM (not the sidhis) over the past 20 years as we
raised a family, ran a business, and such.

Anyway, we are now at that time when family are on their own and we're
thinking of what's next for us. From what we've read about Fairfield, it seems
that it might be worth checking out (thus our upcoming visit).

My question for anyone here who might have some information: Is there any
'unofficial' group meditation program (TM) in Fairfield on a regular basis?
We're assuming that 1) because we have no-one to recommend us (which at least
was the way it used to be way back when) and 2) because we are both TM teachers
who don't practice the sidhis, we will never be allowed to join any 'official'
movement group meditations. Also, for many years we have been practicing 40
minutes of TM twice a day (not 20 minutes).

Any information or leads would be appreciated.

Since I found this group a week ago, I've been browsing here and there. There
seems to be quite a range of opinions about TM/the movement/the politics, etc.
(to put it mildly...:). We left all of that many years ago so we have no
interest in those conversations, but we appreciate what Maharishi gave us and
are very happy with TM.

Best,
Jim

HI Michael. We lived in Fairfield many years ago and so we're aware of the cold
(and long...) winters. Everything is at an early stage right now, but we're
thinking if we do decide to move to Fairfield that we would spend at least part
of the winter somewhere warm.

You could join with the official meditators - the MUM officials would just
give you weird looks and encourage you to become governors as soon as
possible.

If you like Fairfield enough to move there then you could just start your own
regular group. Having once lived in Fairfield, I suggest you make a couple
visits in December and January to get the full flavor of the place. I had one
mild winter there and one brutal one. You won't know Fairfield till you have
wintered there.

   Hello James,
You seem to be a honest soul who preffers to stay out of negativity and have
been regular in meditation so there would be no reason why you should not be
able to join group meditations. The question is if such groups excist for
TM'ers only. Simply contact the MUM course office to find out while you
contemplate whether it's now time to learn the TM-Sidhis and join the big
groups in the Domes. I haven't been in the Domes in Fairfield for 20 years
myself but I have friends who travel over there regularily just to meditate in
the big group and their reports from the effect of being in such a big group
are simple marvelous.
Good luck to you and

HI Buck. Thanks for all the information and good wishes. I would love to get
together when we visit. We have not decided yet when we will visit, but it will
be sometime later this summer. I'll get back in touch.
Best for now,
Jim

Jim, when you get here to Fairfield, Iowa look around the shops and coffee
houses for a copy of the Fairfield Weekly Reader. The meditating community
generally schedules itself through the Fairfield Weekly Reader. Let us have
coffee when you get here. Best Regards, -Buck

There is so much to do and so little time to do it all here. Lot of people get
the Fairfield Weekly Reader when it is published on Thursdays and get out their
own calendars and schedule their coming week. There is a tremendous amount of
high level and spiritual culture here functioning in lots of guilds and
satsang. Anyone can find groups interested in what they are interested in. The
meditator community is generally an over-educated group and as such it tends to
be an interested and activist's community. That is a lot of what makes the
place so special. Being here for four decades now this is quite facilitated and
developed now. It is quite spiritual that way, in so many ways. -Buck

It is true the four seasons are fully expressed in Fairfield, Iowa. I work
outside in them and I love them all. Fairfield is a great place to live and
incredibly spiritual. Just this last weekend there were some deep and
incredible spiritual satsangs in town also as a huge music festival was going
on around the square and downtown. There are lectures and things going on up
on campus all the time too. Other places are nice to visit but this is a
fabulous spiritual place to live and grow that speaks a common spiritual
language. That becomes the community, -Buck
