Of course I live in California which has the strictest gun laws of all
the states. I suspect it would be a model for a "federal" gun law.
Apparently some states don't even have a waiting period and some may
allow the sale of automatic weapons.

[FairfieldLife] Bravo for the season finale of Hannibal

2014-05-25 Thread Bhairitu noozg...@sbcglobal.net [FairfieldLife]
Wow! This was one great final episode of the season. Bryan Fuller
knocked it out of the ballpark. I won't go into specifics for those who
haven't seen it but it followed a trend occurring in other series these
days, mainly the premium channel ones. I suspect however this show is
too dark for many of the folks here.

Agreed. One of the ballsiest TV episodes ever, willing to take on nearly every
television convention and preconception and fuck with it. The show is
*definitely* too dark for many here, but it's brilliant.

[FairfieldLife] Bravo Dem Rep Hank Johnson!!!

2010-04-01 Thread sgrayatlarge
You have turned science and geology on it's head yesterday (not April 1st) with
your deep probing on the physical make up of the island- Guam and whether it
can really hold up to the additional of 8,000 Marines and family that are going
to be stationed there.

I see a Nobel Prize in your future Democrat Johnson. How much do you make a
year? $174,000? The state of Georgia and the really the world owes you a debt
of gratitude for hitting just the right tone and I'm sure the Admiral will
never forget you.

begin and enjoy

Your morning jolt: Hank Johnson and a `capsizing' Guam
8:51 am April 1, 2010, by Jim Galloway

Unfortunately, we can't say the video below is an April Fool's Day prank.

Last Thursday morning, at a House Armed Services Committee meeting, U.S. Rep.
Hank Johnson (D-Decatur) was questioning Robert Willard, commander of the U.S.
fleet in the Pacific, about the impact of more American troops on the tiny,
tiny island of Guam.

Johnson went into tortuous detail about just how tiny Guam is.

And then he said this:

My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will
tip over and capsize.

Now, possibly, Johnson is a tremendous deadpan when it comes to hyperbole. We
don't know. Neither did the admiral, who played it straight:

We don't anticipate that. The Guam population, I think, currently about
175,000, and again, with 8,000 marines and their families, it's an addition of
about 25,000 more into the population.

And right on the money too or where it all went. My number one
choice for president. But the pondscum in this country with their
jellied brains would never vote for him. I'm afraid they'll vote for
McCain because he's dumb just like me, yuck, yuck.

Richardson unfazed by bill to legalize pot

By DEBORAH BAKER
Associated Press

SANTA FE, N.M. — Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson, poised to sign a
bill making New Mexico the 12th state to legalize medical marijuana,
said Thursday he realizes his action could become an issue in the
presidential race.

So what if it's risky? It's the right thing to do, said Richardson,
one of the candidates in the crowded 2008 field. What we're talking
about is 160 people in deep pain. It only affects them.

The legislation would create a program under which some patients —
with a doctor's recommendation — could use marijuana provided by the
state health department. Lawmakers approved the bill Wednesday. The
governor is expected to sign it in the next few weeks.

Richardson has supported the proposal since he first ran in 2002. But
he pushed especially hard for it this year, leaning on some Democrats
to change their votes after the bill initially failed

I don't see it as being a big issue, he said. This is for
medicinal purpose, for ... people that are suffering. My God, let's
be reasonable, he said.

The federal government declares marijuana an illegal controlled
substance with no medical value.

A federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled on Wednesday that a
woman whose doctor says marijuana is the only medicine keeping her
alive can face federal prosecution on drug charges.

The Supreme Court ruled against the woman two years ago, saying
medical marijuana users and their suppliers could be prosecuted for
breaching federal drug laws even if they lived in a state such as
California where medical pot is legal.
