As soon as you access the internet data highway with your computer,
security is out of the question. The most secure computer is a computer
without any contact to the outside world - no network, no internet, no
disks, no flash drives, no CD-DVD drives, and no direct contact to other
computers by modem or network card. In addition a really secure computer
will be password protected. The most common passwords are: password, sex
and god, but not in that particular order.

Many people do not realize that a computer connected to the internet
reveals details about their personal life: who they are, where they
work, where they go, who they visit, and their surfing habits. Some
people don't even realize that their computer media player tracks all
tunes played and sends that information for analysis. It's all there,
housed as digital information at a data center somewhere.
This is another one of those books that needs to be on a mandatory
reading list for all certifications in Computer Security:
/*'Ghost in the Wires'*/
by Kevin Mitnick
Back Bay Books, 2011
Amazon review:
"Kevin Mitnick was the most elusive computer break-in artist in
history. He accessed computers and networks at all the world's biggest
companies - and no matter how fast the authorities were, Mitnick was
faster, sprinting through phone switches, computer systems, and cellular
networks.
As the FBI's net finally began to tighten, Mitnick went on the run,
engaging in an increasingly sophisticated game of hide and seek that
escalated through false identities, a host of cities, and plenty of
close shaves, to an ultimate showdown with the Feds, who would stop at
nothing to bring him down."
