It just didn't interest me when I first saw the link to it, and it still doesn't. So what I'm responding to below is not anything about Peter Wallace himself or anything he said or even about TM in particular. You touched on an interesting 'tude that I've seen across the entire spiritual smorgasbord, and made some points that I think are worth reinforcing. Just looking at the posts on FFL I see it is the same ol' same ol' IOW people stuck in the past with little interest in the present or future. Absolutely. I've started thinking of this place as Fairfield End Of Life, a kind of rest home in cyberspace. :-) Often the experience stories sound to me *exactly* like what I was hearing from the inmates when I was helping out at an old folk's home, and had to listen to *their* stories. Of necessity (because nothing ever happened in their present), they sat around and told stories about the past. The main difference was that -- these being normal people and not cultists who had spent their lives pursuing intangible inner goals -- they were stories about past tangible accom- plishments: family, friends, achievements, successes, adventures, great love affairs, etc. A spiritual or New Age rest home wouldn't even have that. Its inmates would have to rely on stories of their inner experiences, because that's all that they have been taught to value in life. As a result, because most of them wouldn't have any tangible things from the past to brag about to make it sound as if their lives had been worth living, they'd have to brag about their inner experiences, and find some way to make *them* sound as if they were somehow special. That's what the descriptions of Peter Wallace's stories sounded like to me. Me, I prefer listening to people who, when asked to tell interesting stories of their lives, probably have to go no further back in the past than...uh...yesterday. One gets the feeling that Curtis' life is like that. Others here, not so much.

And no, Robin would just the the Vice President.

Second, if people starting saying a bunch of nice things about Curtis, the people who always chime in at that point to say bad things about him would pipe up again. :-)

Contrary to you who comes forward as an old, grumpy man reminded by Peter Wallace, Jim et. al. of what life could have been if you had continued TM instead of entering a wasteland with only a few fond memories from a time spent with a teacher who commited suicide. Reacting with anger when experiences Jim and others are presenting on FFL. It's Peter Wallace who is in the now. Now, will you please go back to the bar ? :-)

Do you think it might be time to start a Curtis Delta Blues Fan Club? turquoiseb: Not a good idea. First, Curtis doesn't need it, unlike others here who seem really TO need a fan club. Never heard of a performing artist that didn't need a 'fan club'. Go figure. My shows are not booked because of groundswell popularity of my music. I am solving specific educational or comercial entertainment needs for specific events, and once I do a show, it is much more likely that they will give the next gig to someone else no matter how great my show is. It is the nature of the commercial market I am in. I don't even have an email list, it would do me no good.
