 Akshaya Tritiya 2018

Maharishi often reminded us that this special day in the Vedic calendar is a
highly favorable time to begin new activities.

..Might be a god day for each of us to encourage at least one friend who
doesn't come to the group meditation program to come to the april 29th Group
Meditation.

[FairfieldLife] Happy Easter Everyone!

2018-04-01 Thread jr_...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
It's about 60 degrees and sunny here in SF and I had brunch at the beach Chalet
overlooking Ocean Beach , joining the crowd , including the beachcombers, for
a tranquil afternoon on this wonderful day. The special menu today is braised
lamb shank with mashed potato. The menu called it potato puree with asparagus
on top.

[FairfieldLife] Happy Solstice Day!

2017-12-21 Thread dhamiltony...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
Om Thanks be to the Providence of the Unified Field it is here,
 it is winter solstice day!

 Notes on the winter Solstice,
From the Fairfield, Iowa Waldorf-inspired Singing Cedars School web page..

Throughout almost every culture of the northern hemisphere – the Roman
celebration of Saturnalia, the Hebrew feast of the Dedication of the Temple,
the Druid celebration of the winter solstice, the feast day of Mithraism – this
midwinter holiday has had festival connotations of light and the sun, of the
time when winter’s dark draws to a close and the renewed promise that spring’s
light will soon begin.

[FairfieldLife] >>>> HAPPY GURUPURNIMA <<<

2017-07-08 Thread email4you mikemail4...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kTEaYuU5mQGuru Dev and Maharishi
QUESTION: "What was it that Guru Dev did that makes him important as the source
of the revival of this knowledge?"
MAHARISHI: "In his ashram he manufactured me.(Laughter/Applause) He produced me
and put me out in the market. (Laughter)

And then the waves of life. I rolled on over the Pacific and over the Atlantic
and in the skies and everywhere. Just this. Just this. The message of life
rolled on around the world like that. People got a changed perspective. The
perspective of life was changed, is being changed. And then I started to
multiply myself. some of me found here, some of me found there, some of me
found here. and all that was found of me was found of Guru Dev, because the
tree is nothing but the expression of the seed which within it had
concentratedly every aspect of the tree like that. The tree expresses just the
glory of the seed -- in all directions it goes here, there and everywhere.

The outer light is just the quality of the inner light in a bulb. And each bulb
shines here, and we say, 'Oh, what a beautiful bulb. White light. Good.' The
bulb knows that the power comes from the station, from the powerhouse. So all
those enjoying the light around the bulb sing the glory of the bulb, but the
bulb within himself is emitting light with the light of the powerhouse.

So all the changed vision that the people in the world have been receiving for
the last so many years and, as a result of that, gaining more and more ground
on the reality of life, all that comes from the blessings of GuruDev."

Dear Friends of BatGap,

2015 has been another very inspiring year for BatGap. We conducted 54
interviews, and there seems to be no end to potential future ones. In 2016 we
will be re launching our “Suggest a Guest” form using a newly-developed
database. You will be able to suggest guests or cast a vote for those already
suggested. We appreciate your carefully considered, quality suggestions.

We continue to receive amazing and heartwarming

testimonials from listeners who tell us how much their lives have been
transformed from watching the show. Others say they have found the teacher they
were seeking. Just a couple of inspiring quotes from listeners:

"Batgap operates as my virtual spiritual community: a source of teachers,
technique, tradition, & inspiration. I can hardly thank you enough for all
that you have given to me. I have experienced great joy, peace, deep bliss, a
well-being that, without poetry, is inexplicable."

"I can’t get over what I’m learning from all these interviews. I love it. I’m
the type of person who likes to hear different views and opinions and then come
up with my own way of being. I am just so thrilled with the knowledge I’m
getting and I really appreciate all of you. I think the interviews are superb.
Thank you so much. My life is better for it. — Peace and Love"

The support of appreciative viewers continues to make all of this possible. If
you have been donating to BatGap or are simply a regular viewer/listener, we
send our heartfelt thanks and appreciation.

As we approach the end of 2015, there is still time to make a tax-deductible

 donation to "BatGap Non-Profit", a 501(c)3.

As always, we are also very grateful to our dear volunteers who help make
BatGap possible. Their photos are below: Ralph Preston: video post-production,

[FairfieldLife] Happy Mayberry 4th!

2015-07-04 Thread Bhairitu noozg...@sbcglobal.net [FairfieldLife]
I'm sure that Fairfield is celebrating it's annual Mayberry style 4th
of July just as this town is. Usually Saturdays I head down to the
waterfront park for a walk but they've got all kinds of foo-foo going on
and I wouldn't have even been able to get to the park let along park
there. It began with a pancake breakfast then a parade at 10 through
the downtown. So no Starbucks for me today.

I was musing to a friend about why it's celebrated this way. The town
demographic is thirty something with kids but the organizers of events
are old farts. I imagine if the millennials organized the celebration
would be a rock concert with $1 admission and nude body painting with
selfies gallery. :-D

On a side note there is a new espresso bar opening around the corner
from Starbucks this week. Hopefully prices will be good and they use a
good roast.

[FairfieldLife] Happy Memorial Day

2015-05-24 Thread dhamiltony...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
This was the first nation in the history of the world to be founded with a
purpose. The great phrases of that purpose still sound in every American heart,
North and South: All men are created equal--government by consent of the
governed--give me liberty or give me death. Well, those are not just clever
words, or those are not just empty theories. In their name Americans have
fought and died for two centuries, and tonight around the world they stand
there as guardians of our liberty, risking their lives.

Those words are a promise to every citizen that he shall share in the dignity
of man. This dignity cannot be found in a man's possessions; it cannot be found
in his power, or in his position. It really rests on his right to be treated as
a man equal in opportunity to all others. It says that he shall share in
freedom, he shall choose his leaders, educate his children, and provide for his
family according to his ability and his merits as a human being.

To apply any other test--to deny a man his hopes because of his color or race,
his religion or the place of his birth--is not only to do injustice, it is to
deny America and to dishonor the dead who gave their lives for American
freedom.

at once the oldest and the most basic of this country: to right wrong, to do

LBJ is actually a good example of the rhetoric of leadership within
millenarian revolution. [notice spelling with one 'n', not millennial] change.
For instance LBJ's articulation of transcendent and larger promises in America
of an evolving dharma-like progression of equal rights for all. Gathering
people in, see what and how he said it. Read a few of the first few paragraphs
where he lays things out and see how he reaches for it in rhetoric. He was
quite successful with “The Great Society” and then with civil rights and voting
rights legislation in turn. Was a remarkable point of leadership in broad
cultural change. Time was ripe and he led rhetorically. Text of “The American

My Rahu mahadasha was the most prosperous in my life.  Rahu is exalted in
my chart and the nodes don't afflict any of my planets.  So it all depends on
the position and influence of Rahu in your chart.

BTW, the concern over the effects of wireless technology has brought about
some research that in an unintended way may well validate astrology.

My Rahu mahadasha was the most prosperous in my life. Rahu is exalted
in my chart and the nodes don't afflict any of my planets. So it all
depends on the position and influence of Rahu in your chart.

BTW, the concern over the effects of wireless technology has brought
about some research that in an unintended way may well validate astrology.

It's true. Everyone eats Chinese food on Christmas.

Maybe a bit of hyperbole on the everyone bit. I wonder if any are open
around here?  Might make a good follow-up to yesterday's lentil soup, smoky egg
dip and wine tasting routine.

Re: [FairfieldLife] Happy Chinese Food Day!

2014-12-26 Thread Bhairitu noozg...@sbcglobal.net [FairfieldLife]

Hehe.

The nearby Chinese restaurant didn't have an open Christmas sign. I
have a doubt that any of the Chinese restaurants were open for Christmas
dinner in this town however one of the two big Chinese buffet places in
the next city over (Concord) advertised they would be both for Christmas
Eve and Christmas dinner. I'm thinking the article might have also been
an idea to prompt the owners of the restaurants that planned to be open
to buy some advertising? The one restaurant did have the front page ad
as they often do anyway on the Penny Saver circular that comes in the
mail weekly.

Up until a few years ago I would join my relatives at an Italian
restaurant (run by a Portuguese family) for Christmas dinner. We never
did Christmas dinners but celebrated on Christmas Eve at least before
there were any great nieces and nephews around. Now that those kids are
all grown up it's back to just Christmas Eve.

Another article or news report covered how some places had employees

Re: [FairfieldLife] Happy Chinese Food Day!

2014-12-26 Thread jr_...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
I was going to have lunch at Tommy's Joynt yesterday. But it was closed. So,
I ended having lunch at an Indian restaurant at at Arguello Avenue and Geary
Boulevard. It was excellent. If you're in the City, you should try that
place.

After eating, I decided to go to Fisherman's Wharf. There were a lot of
people there, including those who were getting off a tour boat around the
Alcatraz Island. The boat was a small fishing boat that was converted to carry
tourists around the Bay. The captain was charging $15 per person for the ride.
I figured he and the crew were making about a thousand dollars on a good day.
But I noticed the captain could be potentially liable for accidents on his
boat. I was hoping none of the tourists would fall off the ladder as they
climbed off the boat and onto the sidewalk.

Then, I watched a Jamaican guy play his steel drum accompanied by a
pre-recorded backup band on his sound system. He sounded pretty good for a
one-man band.

Since he was playing near Boudin bakery, I went inside the store and bought a
sour dough french bread.

Afterwards, I walked towards the Aquatic Park and went home.

You have to pay me to go into the City. :-D

I've been to one Indian restaurant in SF and that was in the late 1990s
after I had been to India. A friend and I found one that actually made
food more like I had in India, particularly the rice.

How do you know the boat owner didn't have liability insurance to cover
the tourists?

I am happy to live in America, but the idea that the FFs wanted to establish a
perfect government is absurd. They were tired of England (a Scorpion nation
even then!) screwing around with their streams of income - it was mainly about
money, then and now.

Take a look at the lives of the Founding Fathers - you might be surprised.

If we had a dog, I'd have to fence in our yard and probably install an
automatic gate, neither of which I have an inclination to do because of how I'd
like our yard to be, and because of the expense.

But fortunately the neighbors on either side do have dogs, and I am able to
interact with them, mostly by buying a roasted chicken each week, as unspiced
as possible, and feeding them snacks.

But I noticed a month or so ago that my favorite, Duchess, a mostly husky
breed, was losing some fur, and had a lot of mucous forming in her eyes. They
were giving her medicine which didn't seem to be having much effect.

Then about a week ago, I noticed her face was getting really puffed up. But
she didn't seem to be in pain, even when petted under her neck where most of
the puffiness was. And of course she still came around for the chicken staking
out her claim as first in line.

Well three days ago, she wasn't there, and we suspected that they had to put
her down. My daughter finally caught up with them yesterday, and that was
indeed the case.

Funny how you can cry so much harder when a pet dies than when even a friend,
or family member dies.

Hey, Steve, sorry for your loss. I just had a great chat with my Dad which
somehow got around to colloidal silver. It can also be used for ear infections
in dogs, not sure about eyes.

When my Dad's last dog died he swore he would never get another one. But he
did, a golden doodle named Bailey. She's his buddy now that he's retired.

We sell (at my tack store) lots of products with colloidal silver in them to
treat everything from wounds and fungal and bacterial problems to scrubbing out

Ann, last year my Dad almost died from a tiny scratch on his leg, from a crab
pot that had been hanging in the South River and thus carried killer bacteria.
What finally cured him was a silver patch. Which the Western docs finally
prescribed!

The day after I started taking colloidal silver, I received a newsletter
proclaiming that The Age of Antibiotics was over. That the overuse of
antibiotics has created super bacteria resistant to most popular antibiotics.
Go natural!

Their son, who lives behind them already got a three month old German Shepard
mix from the shelter. They were out of town, so he is surprising them today
when they get home. We met the little pup yesterday, and she is cute, but then
again some dogs are extra special. Dutchess fell into that category.

The neighbors on the other side have a boxer, (very cute), and a pit bull mix.
Total muscle and naturally not very friendly (for the pit bull), but very cute
and affectionate when it comes to a chicken snack. And it is quite true that
dogs seem to develop a personality similar to their owners. At least that's my
observation with the dogs of my two neighbors.

She was losing patches of fur, and evidently the medicine they were giving her
resulted in the mucus in her eyes, which the son would try to clean out every
day. Sometimes he would do it during her chicken snack as she was sufficiently
distracted. But thanks for the recommendation.

Another treat for lovers of British Drama.

Happy Valley is a rather bleak, comedy of errors set in a wintry northern
town. Think Fargo with scouse accents.

It's also filmed around Skelmersdale. At one point you can see the dreaded
hill that delays the sunrise by 2 minutes, thus damning anyone in its shadow to
the impossibility of enlightenment. That doesn't get a mention though, there's
way too much drama going on for that

Typically well acted and plotted for the BBC these days, I enjoyed the first
episode enormously.

I've got too much to watch as it is. Whatever happened to the days when
we were happy enough to watch a movie or two a week and maybe a couple
of TV shows? I notice on the home theater boards that folks now let
episodes pile up on the DVRs or get around to watching them much later
on by streaming services. This drives the ratings services crazy. :-D

I'll keep an eye out for this one which may show up on Hulu later on.
In the meantime I have the third episode of Fargo to watch tonight.

Re: [FairfieldLife] Happy Valley

2014-04-30 Thread salyavin808

From the evidence of the first episode, I'd make Happy Valley a priority. It
looks as wonderfully bleak and unpleasant as the northern countryside in winter.

I actually think they've got it about right on TV, I get an episode of
Futurama or the Simpsons every day, the Channel 4 news is unmissable. And
there's usually a good quiz show on later and maybe a documentary about
something interesting. Drama's are a once weekly thing for me, so I do miss a
lot of them. But Fargo is enjoyable too, but no spoilers as we're a week
behind. If there was any more stuff on that was worth the effort of watching.
I'd never get around to doing anything else.

Movies I record by the ton, but only watch the first twenty minutes of most of
them. I started watching Avatar again the other night and enjoyed it more than
I did the first time.

Re: [FairfieldLife] Happy Valley

I watched the first episode of Fargo but won't bother with any more. This is
not a dig per se, more a comment that they don't seem to be exploring any
territory not previously covered by the Coen Brothers' movie. Interestingly
enough, From Dusk To Dawn: The Series actually is, so I wound up continuing
to watch it. But Fargo I'm gonna take a pass on.

No one should take offense at this, because as previously said, tastes vary,
and there is simply no accounting for taste. I haven't bothered with Mad Men
in a couple of years, and don't miss it, and that one is seemingly beloved by
critics and lay-viewers alike. Go figure.

Tastes vary. Some people find a face in a photo attractive, and others find the
same face butt-ugly. There is no right or wrong in such a situation, just
preference. That, and a realization that if I ever get married again I'm not
going to choose seventhray27 to pick the eye candy at my bachelor party.  :-)
:-)  :-)

From the evidence of the first episode, I'd make Happy Valley a priority. It
looks as wonderfully bleak and unpleasant as the northern countryside in
winter.

I actually think they've got it about right on TV, I get an episode of Futurama
or the Simpsons every day, the Channel 4 news is unmissable. And there's
usually a good quiz show on later and maybe a documentary about something
interesting. Drama's are a once weekly thing for me, so I do miss a lot of
them. But Fargo is enjoyable too, but no spoilers as we're a week behind.  If
there was any more stuff on that was worth the effort of watching. I'd never
get around to doing anything else.

Movies I record by the ton, but only watch the first twenty minutes of most of
them. I started watching Avatar again the other night and enjoyed it more than
I did the first time.

Whatever happened to the days when we were happy enough to watch a
movie or two a week and maybe a couple of TV shows?  I notice on
the home theater boards that folks now let episodes pile up on the
DVRs or get around to watching them much later on by streaming
services.  This drives the ratings services crazy. :-D

I'll keep an eye out for this one which may show up on Hulu later
on.  In the meantime I have the third episode of Fargo to watch
tonight.

Happy

It's also filmed around Skelmersdale. At one
point you can see the dreaded hill that delays the
sunrise by 2 minutes, thus damning anyone in its shadow
to the impossibility of enlightenment. That doesn't get

There's two things that worry me about Fargo; both movie and TV titles start
with the legend This is a true story, only the names have been changed
but they are quite different. Puzzling.

And I'm not all that convinced by Billy Bob as a psychopath, he hasn't quite
got the gravitas or menace that, say, Xavier Bardem had in No country for old
men. Still, it's a fun story. Sort of
