I'm not especially worried about the world ending on 12/21/2012--anymore than I think The Rapture is coming any time soon. <http://bicsplace.blogspot.com/2009/12/rapture-will-take-place-before-mo\ nday.html> However, I am worried about what seems to me the increasingly likely probability of lots of people massively freaking out in the days leading up to 12/21/2012.
Here's a report from NBC News on a large deep-underground shelter being built in the Mojave desert between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. It is reported that about 1000 applications have already been received for spaces in the shelter in the event of a natural or man-made disaster--at about $50,000 a pop.
