Depends too on what character encoding the browser is using. These days it probably should be UTF-8. What happens is some of the "extended" ASCII characters set may trigger it trying to display it as UTF-8 when it is just an "extended" ASCII character. However, when you post to the various forums from those editors (as on Yahoo), what appears on your editor's screen isn't always what appears on the forum.
