John, for 9 years I've had such a feng shui crystal, though mine is pink,
hanging from the lamp on my desk about 3 inches from an east facing window. I
know what you mean. They are beautiful.

I've been influenced by the kaleidoscope of colors that I see as the Sun sets
down to the west on a sunny afternoon. You see, I've hung a small faceted
crystal ball on my office window to witness this rainbow magic. In the same
way, I've now understood how the light of the Sun can influence life here on
earth as the seasons pass during the revolution of the Earth around the Sun.
By the way, this faceted crystal ball is also a good feng shui remedy to bring
good luck or chi into your living area. Even if you don't believe in this
remedy, you'll definitely enjoy the light show everyday when the Sun shines
through your window. :)

In this particular case, I'm using the Western astrology method of calculating
the placement of the Sun. However, using the jyotish method, you are right in
saying that the Sun is still in Virgo, due to the ayanamsha being used to
compensate for the earth's precession.
According to western astrology, today is the start of Libra, where the Sun is
literally taking its fall. Given the circumstances that are going on in
Washington DC, it appears that the federal government (represented by the Sun)
is about to fall due to power struggles by our politicians.
