I'd say rock'n roll (Elvis, Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee 
Lewis...) is a combination, sort of, of country music and Chicago blues.

I neglected to mention that the alleged boogie-woogie player was 
supposedly playing straight 8ths style in the 1920s way before anything 
called rock 'n roll.
