Xero,

One of Chopra's techniques was published in Trancenet.com. Also, many years
ago, the TMO sold a few mantras on tape and called them "primordial sounds". I
memorized one of them by sound, not knowing the words or spelling in sanskrit.
It worked very well for me since it gave me a blissful feeling while repeating
the mantra a few times.

Thx, I never got the Chopra technique. Did anybody? (here). Looks like it's
a dead transmission.
I chant - usually silently - the Gayatri mantra, the Mahamritunjaya mantra to
Shiva, and a Graha mantra to the planets; as well as the Vakratunda Mahakaya
mantra to Ganesh. With these mantras, even if Chopra were still teaching the
mantras he received through MMY, I doubt that there would be an additional
benefit, especially when I can chant the traditional mantras for free.
I might add that Chopra seems to have quit giving credit to MMY in his books,

It appears that Chopra's got another best seller. What happened to his
meditation technique?

First few pages of "Supergenes" in the "Look Inside" section of Amazon. Goes
into memory, inflammation, the microbiome [gut bacteria], diet, stress,
exercise, meditation, sleep, emotions, making evolution mindful, epigenetics,
diseases, DNA, canceretc.
The basic idea is that "we are learning how to make our genes help us"; and
that there are not simply good and bad genes that determine our .:
[my comments] These ideas may be revolutionary for some readers, perhaps
those following conventional medicine heavily influenced by Big Pharma, but
nothing new here for TM practitioners who have been following the career of
Chopra for many years and know where he's coming from. The concept of
"epigenetics" is bandied about on TV by cutting edge researchers, but they
virtually have no advice on the "epi" part (the external influences on DNA that
can influence our lives, going beyond mere acceptance of inherited genes. But
long before this, there have been discussions regarding "nature vs nurture".
To his credit, Chopra has gone well beyond the other researchers in the new,
emerging sciene of epigenetics, perhaps by introducing the idea of the
SUPERGENE, composed of inherited genes, epigenetic influences, DNA, and the
microbiome.
Thus, Chopra in this regard is indeed a pioneer, having coming up with a more
explicit definition of the Supergene, but more important, the holistic
interaction between consciousness and giving direction to the health of the
supergene for greater health, with very specific recommendations.
