OMG! Even translate.google.com pronounces 'jorge' the Spanish
way: ~~(k)hor-hay, LoL!

 Ann,

You seem to forget that there is the name Jorge which can be pronounced as
George. Also, there are probably some Brits who would sound out Jarge for
George--as in Jolly good, Jarge old chap!. :)

It was really close, don't you think? George is a variation of jo,
which is close to ja. Maybe the family didn't want to name the child
James since it was too close to the King James of Bible fame. :)

Well John, as much as I like you (you seem to be a gentle soul) I can not
'give' you this one. To me Jo is closer to Joseph and George is George.
Ja could be Jehova, Jack, James, Jay, , Jamie, Jasper etc. but George??
Not this time. It is only one strike though, you have two more before
  you're out.

So much for the 'ja' sound that was supposed to be part of his name
according to his chart. I wish you had been correct, that would have
been cool.

More likely it's George VI, his great-great-grandfather, the
queen's father, who led England through the horrors of World
War II (taking the throne after his older brother, Edward
VIII, abdicated, as we've been discussing).

This King George, a man Sal probably would claim to be irrelevant.

If the child grows up to like Americans, then you would be right. Otherwise,
he may be the reincarnation of King George III. :)

I have no idea what you're talking about here, but
the George they've named the kid after is George VI,
not George III.
