While a single temperature change or exposure to cold/wet conditions for a short period may not cause a cold, researchers didn't simulate the REAL conditions of winter: changing temperatures constantly. And have you noticed how people can be in a warm, dry room and feel the influence of cold and wetness outside? It's as if the cold or moisture or wind have a subtle influence that pervades all spaces, inside or out.
