I think all are agreed that Hinduism is extra extra racist, and Maharishi reflected that. Worse than demoting others for skin color, Maharishi also has ALL the women at a lower notch. You don't see any men jumping on their wives funeral pyres. In the Laws of Manu, I think they equate killing a woman as being the same sin as killing a wagonload of bugs. The worst of all the isms of Maharishi was the elitism of his plutocratic policies -- No money? Then ya can't talk to me. Shemp was purdy durned funny, and ironically, he DIDN'T go over the top but instead imagined a real-life scenario for Maharishi in the late 1800's. I do think, though, that Shemp missed the boat when he didn't imagine someone roping and branding a Sanskrit OM on a squealing Bevan. Cute, Shemp, cute. Seriously, as a TBer, I was told that when Guru Dev was born that that signaled the end of slavery on earth. I fell for it. Nowadays though, where isn't someone enslaved? Shackles and cuffs of every sort in every venue? From speed limits to welfare cheese to triumphant Trump, limitations and addictions and profits make slaves of us all.
