FFL, thanks for the condolences. They have come from around the FFL world.
 Gertie came to meditation later in her life. She was a life long social
activist whose admonition to her spiritual practitioner children was, “..why
can’t you just be good Democrats?”

 But she learned to meditate and then met Ammachi and the two changed her
spiritual life. She moved to meditating Fairfield late in life and was a
contributing member to communal Fairfield bringing her bright good light
everywhere she went.
 Family and friends have cremated her body. There is a memorial service this
weekend.

 I am working up this song to sing with a harmony group of transcendental
meditationists here in Fairfield, Iowa at the memorial tomorrow:

  Holly Springs
 There is a house not made with hands,
 Eternal, and on high;
 And here my spirit, waiting stands,
 Till God shall bid it fly.

 Chorus:

 I long to see my friends again
 And hear them sweetly say;
 Come, weary dove, here is thy home,
 Then fold thy wings and stay.

 Shortly this prison of my clay
 Must be dissolved and fall;
 Then, Oh my soul, with joy obey
 Thy heav’nly Father’s call.

 (Chorus)
 I long to see my friends again
 And hear them sweetly say;
 Come, weary dove, here is thy home,
 Then fold thy wings and stay.
 -Isaac Watts 1709

 Dear Ones
 My precious mother[in-law], Gertie has passed into the Life Eternal. Sweetly,
and without any struggle at about 4:50am this morning. Thank you for your
prayers and best wishes. I know she left on a tsunami of Love!

 Love and all blessings,

 Ah, that final release. I remember feeling, not sorrow, but great relief when
both of my parents were free of their ailing bodies. I am not sure which is
harder - the labors of being born or the labors of dying.

 Living life in a body ain't easy. There's always something waiting to go
wrong. Luckily, indigestion is not one of those things for me.

 I wonder what her experience is right now? We, as the living, would have a
much different experience than her, watching her, grieving her or simply just
waiting for that death moment.

 When my father died at home from esophageal cancer and he had made the
decision to have his feeding tube removed it took about three days for him to
die. Eventually he went into a coma (a combination of starvation and opiates)
and quite soon after that, died. But his body did continue to function up to
that point, as if its great mission was to keep the cells fed with oxygen so
that the heart could keep pumping and thus the machine would keep working. I
think it would be so much better if we could simply put our attention on the
body ceasing its labors and we could stop the machine and simply move on to
whatever might, or might not, come next.

 ..Remember, our mortal state;
 How frail our lives! how short the date!
 Where is the man that draws his breath,
 Safe from disease, secure from death?
 While we see whole nations die,
 Our flesh and sense repine and cry;
 Must death forever rage and reign?
 Or hast The Unified Field
  made mankind in vain?

An aspect of her has been out visiting family members the last few days. Pulse
now ‘thready’. Heart rate up. Breath measured and drawn.

think it would be so much better if we could simply put our attention on the
body ceasing its labors and we could stop the machine and simply move on to
whatever might, or might not, come next.

 ..Remember, our mortal state;
 How frail our lives! how short the date!
 Where is the man that draws his breath,
 Safe from disease, secure from death?
 While we see whole nations die,
 Our flesh and sense repine and cry;
 Must death forever rage and reign?
 Or hast The Unified Field
  made mankind in vain?

 "the throes of childbirth"

 The last few days I been sitting with my mother-in-law with her as she is
dying and is very much in the throes of death.

 A type of a saint, she is a totally good and effective person in life the kind
of person who always brings good to and out of people everywhere she goes. She
is the kind of person Ollie points to here as a cultivated person by virtue of
how it is expressed in life. A life well lived.

 She recently turned a robust 96 and just a little while ago had some small
strokes or bleeds in her head that sent her through to hospital emergency rooms
and thence neurology but was able to return home to her assisted living
quarters. Small bleeds continued and she declined to a level where hospice was
engaged for her.

 She is down to the end and it is not easy at all. Head, joints, muscle
strictures, eyes everything. She is in the throes of death. Thank the
Unified Field for morphine and such.
