Use syslinux theme for grub as well? [Fwd: live CD grub theme vs installed grub theme]
Hi, I just run by this message on the test list, and what is said there is true... The GRUB image looks a little strange (due to indexing we are limited a lot), while the syslinux one looks awesome and pretty good with indexing as well. So I thought, as is suggested in the message, that we should use the Syslinux indexed version for GRUB as well. Any thoughts? Martin ---BeginMessage--- Is there meant to be a difference between grub themes from the Live CD snapshots to what a user gets when its installed to disk? I see the 'fedora water rings' theme on the Live CD but on my installations I've got a blue theme with a small gold emblem in the lower right. Is the fedora water ring theme supposed to be the final theme? It looks much better than this other one. -- Andrew Farris [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.lordmorgul.net gpg 0x8300BF29 fingerprint 071D FFE0 4CBC 13FC 7DEB 5BD5 5F89 8E1B 8300 BF29 revoked key 0xC99B1DF3 no longer used No one now has, and no one will ever again get, the big picture. - Daniel Geer -- fedora-test-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-test-list ---End Message--- ___ Fedora-art-list mailing list Fedora-art-list@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-art-list

Fwd: Release Party Flyers
Hi Art Team, I posted the below to the art list late last week, it doesn't look like I had any takers. The Fedora Ambassador Steering Committee is planning on making the Release Party push to the Ambassadors at the beginning of the upcoming week. I would like to be able to provide a generic flyer to ambassadors that they can use with minimal changes to print up for their local release party. I have absolutely zero artistic ability and could use some help with this flyer. I am picturing a one-sheet flyer themed with F9 graphic(s) and a text box somewhere on the page where the ambassador can fill in their release party date, time, location and any special events they might be doing at the party. It would be good if the flyers could be printed in color or black and white and still look presentable. If I can provide you with more information, please don't hesitate to let me know. If someone could help me out with this, I would greatly appreciate it - as would the other FAmSCo members. Thanks! Francesco announced the idea to the Ambassadors list here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-ambassadors-list/2008-March/msg00145.html As part of this, I would like to make it even easier for Ambassadors by having some flyers they can download off the wiki to hang up in their area announcing their local release party (and, uh, who am I kidding - I need some flyers for the release party we are planning here in Central Ohio...). I am thinking just a one sheet flyer that we can print up and hang on University bulletin boards, coffee shop hangouts, computer stores, etc. Now, the dates will most likely vary between area for their release party date - so in order to be most useful it would be handy for the average non-art person to be able to modify the date, time, location and a little area for any special notes. Is this something someone could help me out on? Thanks! Jeffrey ___ Fedora-art-list mailing list Fedora-art-list@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-art-list
USB key labels
In thinking about loading USB keys of live Fedora 9 for a community event, I thought it would be cool if we had Fedora 9 Live (or something) stickers/labels to a-fix to them. All USB keys are not the same size, that is true, but they are often long and rectangular. If we had a compact image that was in a rectangular or square shape, sized to fit common label dimensions, it would be fairly simple to print to a sheet of paper labels. Not the ideal long-term solution, but far less expensive than getting USB keys printed. Before I do a bunch of research on label standards, does anyone know about this already? What might be good art to work with? Some of the banner widgets are a nice shape for a label. We'd also want a bit more information on it, such as a URL and copyright info; whatever we put on a DVD label already. - Karstren -- Karsten Wade, Sr. Developer Community Mgr. I'm working on this... basically grub sometimes resizes to be a smaller square in the center of the screen on some types of systems including apple hardware), so pjones thought it would be good to have artwork that fades out at the edges to a solid color so grub wouldn't look so strange on these systems. This wouldn't work with the current grub image so we're playing with the syslinux image indexed and faded at the edges for grub instead. I'll post what I've got next week. ~m ___ Fedora-art-list mailing list Fedora-art-list@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-art-list

My hope is to provide ambassadors with a general release party flyer that they can add in their own date, time and location. That will allow us to use this flyer as a basis for all of the Release Parties we hope to see thrown shortly after the launch of Fedora 9. F9 KDM [Re: [F10 theme proposal] Gears Round 1]

Right now we have problem with KDM, which needs proper backrgound image, and svgs posted in wiki can't be rendered properly by kdm's svg engine Then can you use PNGs? But, if you need to use SVGs I bet that opening them in Inkscape and resaving them as Plain SVGs would make the rendering by the kdm's SVG engine better. However, it uses a fair bit of advanced effects like blur, which takes quite long time to render, so I'd advice you to use PNGs instead. Btw. I might be able to do a sketch for KDM (real theme is a no-go for me, I don't have neither experience nor KDM) if you are interested, I just need to know, how much you are able to do :) Martin ___ Fedora-art-list mailing list Fedora-art-list@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-art-list

Fedora 9 Waves KDM mockup
Hi, as I promised, I sketched an idea for KDM. It's supposed to give the general idea, so I didn't bothered with proper sizes, and I am aware that on real desktop it will not be 640x480... It's a rather dark theme, based on slightly edited night wallpaper. To keep some consistency with F9 GDM, the settings panel is at the bottom; and vertically in the centre (optically), horizontally to the left (to keep some distance from the burning sulphur) is the face-browser plus login window. I hope it's still in time for someone to make the KDM theme :) I uploaded it to my fedorapeople page. http://mso.fedorapeople.org/waves/kdm.png http://mso.fedorapeople.org/waves/kdm.svg Thanks, Martin ___ Fedora-art-list mailing list Fedora-art-list@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-art-list
