rhgb background looks like LCD dead pixels

2007-04-29 Thread Leo
Hi all,

[System: Fedora 6.93]

/usr/share/rhgb/main-logo.png has a few small dots (for stars) around

suspect that my LCD screen has a few dead pixels.

Anyone has a similar experience? Do you think we should do something
about it for Fedora 7 release?

We did this to get people to file bugs against Echo so we can better
evaluate whether it's going to be the default. It's not the same as
saying it's the default; this is Rawhide after all, things can
 change.

How many feedbacks do you get from making Echo the default icon theme?
I want to say this is quite stupid as the icon set is very incomplete
and the first thing users probably would do is changing it to another
set which leave us with no feedback.

How do OOo, Gimp, and Eclipse splash screens provide the best user
experience possible...? They don't. They provide a fuller 'brand
experience' for sure, but that's different from 'user experience'
(former benefits us more than it would users.)

The best user experience possible is applications loading up so
quickly you don't need a splash screen to provide feedback that yes,
 the application is loading.

But not much we can do to improve their startup time at this time. So
a splash screen will be in those apps for Fedora 7.

I would remind everyone many of the other distro's
(Ubuntu/openSuSE/Zenwalk/Vector/and the list goes on) have decided
to theme the splash screens of Open Office and Gimp. I do not know
how they came to that decision but I believe they simply want to
provide the best user experience possible.

We need to be a leader, not a follower. Just because others are doing
 something doesn't mean it's a good idea.

I like this attitude :)

Some of those distros have reached nearly complete theme across the
Desktop and the splash screen might as well make it more complete. We
are not in this stage though.
