This includes all types of s/w. 'Fedora-Health Care' may be a good name.

But what else can bioinformatics + psychometry + hospital management
+ GIS + be?

It is necessary to make it reasonably complete in the statistics side
(R and lots more), differential equation solvers (some advanced math
s/w - those dealing with epidemics will need them), Data visualisation
s/w is compulsory (Gobi, Weka, ...). But there is no reason to include
SAGE. Things like tinyerp may be relevant for some.

Would anyone else be interested in a database special-interest-group
within Fedora?  I don't see one at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs

Yes there should be one. I will be interested in some theoretical and
sometimes in
practical aspects.

High-level goal might be to make Fedora the best place to go for someone
trying to learn about SQL and relational databases [1], and other types
 of db.

A first step might be to gather a list of interesting open-source
database software, and then to package more of it for Fedora.  I've
tried looking for such a list, but unfortunately the package database
 tends to dominate my queries.

 Anyone else out there?

I am with Fedora and have been quite active in popularising
Fedora and FOSS.

For DF-Day(25th March), I am planning to get a custom spin made for
the different teams including the Kolkata team.

I think it will help if some media is provided. Of course I do need
other Fedora promotional material (Stickers, Posters) for the event.

I am also planning on creating a printable getting started guide for

Document Freedom Day is on the 25thof March.

Plenty of teams will be taking part in the event

(I am coordinating the Kolkata team IlugCalinfo )

Is it possible for somebody to make a custom spin including:

1. Mainly destop oriented packages (updated to stable Fedora10)
2. All Open Office stuff with good collection of templates, Dictonaries
3. Scribus, GIMP, Koffice, Gnumeric, Docbook, Lua, Quanta etc (latest stable)
4. TexLive and IDEs
5. Lots of Advocacy related documentation + Whitepapers, Technical
reports, Tutorials etc (for DF-Day): (I can help)
6. Documentation
More (please suggest)

(a non official spin can be considered for some locales ... for
rpmfusion things)

I think many teams would be able to make copies and do lot more.

Is that the only alternative?

You get USB to ethernet convertors.
Basically you will need to configure the MT882 as a router or use pppoe!
It is also not very difficult to put in a ethernet card in a laptop.
