Summary: Review Request: inform - Compiler for Z-machine story files https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=166427 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2006-06-12 23:45 EST --- Would a gnuplot style Can't redistribute complete modified source, only source + patches license be acceptable to the author? Apparently this is acceptable to the OSI. Personally I was shocked that something with such a license gets to call itself GNU. But thats getting off topic... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. ___ Fedora-package-review mailing list Fedora-package-review@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-package-review

Which then brings us to the next question, would such a License be open enough for Fedora? Otherwise you can always package it for the repo that must not be named. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. ___ Fedora-package-review mailing list Fedora-package-review@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-package-review

He has his reasons for not wanting to use an OSI-approved license. In his words, I am nervous of the GPL, and its cognates. Not because I dislike the principle of thing, or do not share the generally egalitarian outlook - but because I want to keep the definition of the language stable. I therefore don't want to give people the right to create derivative works. All the other rights are fine - open source, compile it yourself, distribute it yourself, no fees or patents, use it even commercially without permission, sure. I just don't want Inform to be like awk, with no copy of awk compatible with any other on points of detail. I can understand where he's coming from on this and I'm not convinced I want to change his mind. I'm going to go ahead and let the issue drop. I appreciate the attention from both Jason and Hans. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. ___ Fedora-package-review mailing list Fedora-package-review@redhat.com http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-package-review
