What you already use sounds good to me. I think Best Friends said that they
give monthly Vitamin B shots to their FIV+ cats, but I am not sure I am
remembering right. If you call Best Friends and ask for the cat headquarters,
they will be happy to tell you what they use.

New FIV guy coming to rescue...need supplement advice.

2006-06-27 Thread Rachel
Hi all,

Tomorrow I am picking up a FIV+ guy from a local vet. He was dropped off to be neutered by his owners, they requested a FeLV/FIV test, he tested positive for FIV, the vet told the owners and they have abandoned him, refusing to pick him up!! We work with this vet frequently and she knows I take in FeLV cats often and asked if we had room. Of course, we don't, but I'm making space as I can't stand the thought of this healthy sweet guy being euthed. We have lots of kittens that should be going out the door in the next week, so hopefully he won't have to wait too long for his own room.

He's a young cat (about 2 years), newly neutered, current on vaccinations and has always been asymptomatic according to the vet. The vet said he's an absolute doll, very friendly and affectionate and I feel bad we don't have another FIV+ for him to room with, since he's going to be lonely. While we handle a lot of FeLV+ cats, I don't come across many FIV+ and am looking for any advice you all might have on some good supplements to put him on to keep his immune system strong.

For our FeLV+ cats I use Healthy Powder, along with Lysine, Vitamin C and E, and a few herbs. Is there anything special you've found to be helpful with strictly FIV+ cats?

Thanks in advance!

Rachel
