Ya know, I noticed the thread about IR - suggested that to Susan yesterday, as something to talk to the vet about - going the IV route with it. We have a couple of vets who are open to that sort of thing... We've both used IR both intramuscular and sub-q, and it's helped with other situations, as an immune system booster. I agree. I was going to say the same thing: it depends on the strain of staph. If it's MRSA you have to really get out the big guns, and fast. Staph can easily be deadly. not offhand, gloria, but i think a lot of it has to do with what strain of staph--that's the one that is rapidly developing resistance to EVERY antibiotic in humans, and i expect it's the same thing in critters. Susan, also on this list, has a cat that has been diagnosed with a STAFF INFECTION on his foot. THey've tried 1 antibiotic, but no luck.
