Nina, your mention of St. Francis has me thinking! My dad is actually an Episcopal pastor...and, wouldn't you know it, the name of his church is St. Francis! :) He has an annual blessing of the pets at the church and has 3 cats of his own who run the rectory... ;) The cats' attitudes toward the mice that get into the rectory are rather un-St. Francis-like...but my dad loves them dearly, none-the-less... ;) Anyhoo...the point of my email! I've thought about having my dad bless a group of St. Francis medallions particularly for this wonderful group, if anyone would be interested! I, personally, am not a Christian (although I was raised in the Roman Catholic church)...but I do believe I can use all the help I can get! :) If anyone is interested...Christians and non-Christians alike, let me know and I'll see what I can do! There would be no charge, of course...just an address where I can send a medal! And on a related topic, if ever anybody would like a loved one (people as well as animals!) added to a special prayer list at my dad's church, just let me know! During his mass, he mentions the names of those who are sick and in need...I've had him add a number of my cats to this list whenever one is under the weather...it's kinda cute to hear him say, a special prayer for: John, Mike, Judy, /Chinney, Piglet, Sleepypants.../ :) Anyway, my offer is open to *everybody*!! Jen.. I think this is a very loving suggestion on your part. I have been called St. Francis like many, many times throughout my animal welfare and rescue life by grateful people and organizations and, although I am not a Catholic nor an Episcopalion, I always felt highly complimented. I, personally, think that whatever religion St. Francis was apart of should not be an issue, but rather the compassionate, loving acts regarding animals that clearly define him. I would love to have a St. Francis medallion blessed by your dad in honor of my dogs Otis and Corey, and my cats Peri, felv+, Lovey, felv+, Merry, felv+, Rory, Baby Kitty, and my daughter's 17 year old kitty, Miss Priss. I would love a Medallion blessed by your father. I am Catholic myself but I don't go to church all the time. It's hard when I'm involved with animals and transports. I do go to Mass especially at Xmas and Easter. I do alot praying at home kinda like my own mass I suppose. That is a wonderful idea! Jenn- I would so love a ST. Francis medallion to look up to during the hard times. I did not find your message offensive in the least bit, I don't see how anyone could it was simply an extremely kind offer that came from the heart. I am also not the frequent church goer, however i do believe certain people tranverse all religions and beliefs or lack there of and deserve their places in all humanities hearts.
