#1349: itsoffset doesn't work for second input file (audio) +--- Reporter: bombo |Owner: Type: defect | Status: closed Priority: normal |Component: FFmpeg Version: git-master | Resolution: invalid Keywords: itsoffset | Blocked By: Blocking: | Reproduced by developer: 0 Analyzed by developer: 0 | +--- Comment (by mjs973): So, are you saying that -10 didn't give the result you wanted? There are two experiments you could try: 1) the .avi container is fairly dumb: it has no timestamps. Have you tried using a better container (.mp4 or .mkv) for the output file to see if that works any better? I'm not sure which containers know how to handle XVID and mp3. 2) There could be a bug when two input files are used. The -itsoffset feature is typically used on a single input file. Have you tried muxing the two streams into a single file without using -itsoffset, then doing the time shift by re-muxing that one file with -itsoffset? -- Ticket URL: https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/1349#comment:5 FFmpeg http://ffmpeg.org FFmpeg issue tracker ___ FFmpeg-trac mailing list FFmpeg-trac@avcodec.org http://avcodec.org/mailman/listinfo/ffmpeg-trac

Proper preset usage is now simply -preset medium. Therefore the resulting message you received is not a bug. Also, that compile guide you followed is not good although the resulting ffmpeg should work. It installs a bunch of extras and uses outdated configure options. A simpler and more sane guide is https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/wiki/CentosCompilationGuide. Replying to [comment:2 Silly]: Sorry about the spam and everything. My issue (single) was that Ubuntu ffmpeg/avconv just eats through everything I throw at it while the RPM ffmpeg and the one I've built myself simply won't. The issue here is that you're using two completely different programs and expecting everything to work with the same syntax. Ubuntu doesn't use FFmpeg anymore as of Natty, and ffmpeg/avconv from the repository is not recommended. You should compile the same version of the same program on both distros. [FFmpeg-trac] #1382(undetermined:new): Streaming the output + saving to the local file
#1382: Streaming the output + saving to the local file -+- Reporter: burek| Type: Status: new | enhancement Component: | Priority: wish undetermined | Version: git- Keywords: | master Blocking: | Blocked By: Analyzed by developer: 0| Reproduced by developer: 0 -+- One way of streaming the output and saving the same output to a local file would be to use something like this (I guess): {{{ ffmpeg -i input -vcodec libx264 udp://ip:port -vcodec libx264 local.mp4 }}} but that way FFmpeg would use 2 (identical) encoders and consume twice the cpu than it is logically needed. It was suggested to me, by developers before, that I need some kind of source/sink implemented in ffmpeg to be able to do this. Recently, I figured an easy way to do this easier way: {{{ ffmpeg -i input -vcodec libx264 -f mpegts - | ffmpeg -f mpegts -i - -vcodec copy local.mp4 -vcodec copy udp://bla:port }}} This way only 1 encoder is doing the encoding process and the rest is done using just -vcodec copy, practically just muxing the content in different formats, as needed. My question is: if this approach can be used to add a quick/simple option in ffmpeg to enable users to save the content to a local file while streaming it at the same time, something like this: {{{ ffmpeg -i input -vcodec libx264 -localfile local.mp4 udp://bla:port }}} -- Ticket URL: https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/1382 FFmpeg http://ffmpeg.org FFmpeg issue tracker ___ FFmpeg-trac mailing list FFmpeg-trac@avcodec.org http://avcodec.org/mailman/listinfo/ffmpeg-trac

My description in comment 2 doesn't match the behavior of current git, so either I mis-remembered or something changed. This command should display file1 content one second earlier than file2 content: ffmpeg -itsoffset -1 -i file1.ts -i file2.ts -vcodec copy -acodec copy -map 0:0 -map 1:1 out.ts 1) What I see is that -itsoffset adds or subtracts from all the timestamps (both the video and audio streams) in a file. So this option is only going to be useful when remuxing from separate input files. 2) outfile has expected playback behavior with .ts and .mkv containers. 3) It does not work with .avi (no timestamps, so not a surprise) 4) It does not work with .mp4 container (a bug?) -- Ticket URL: https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/1349#comment:6 FFmpeg http://ffmpeg.org FFmpeg issue tracker ___ FFmpeg-trac mailing list FFmpeg-trac@avcodec.org http://avcodec.org/mailman/listinfo/ffmpeg-trac
