A little bit of Canadian history

This is a really interesting story and something I am sure you will enjoy
reading.  It isn't very long.  An interesting piece of our Canadian history.

*  A TEN DOLLAR REMEMBRANCE DAY
COMING UP*

   THE VETERAN ON OUR TEN DOLLAR BILL  [image: []]

If you look at the back right-hand side of a Canadian $10 bill, you will see
an old veteran standing at attention near the Ottawa war memorial. His name
is Robert Metcalfe and he died last month at the age of 90.

That he managed to live to that age is rather remarkable, given what
happened in the Second World War. Born in England , he was one of the
400,000 members of the British Expeditionary Force sent to the mainland
where they found themselves facing the new German warfare technique - the
Blitzkrieg.

He was treating a wounded comrade when he was hit in the legs by shrapnel.


En route to hospital, his ambulance came under fire from a German tank,
which then miraculously ceased fire. Evacuated from Dunkirk on HMS Grenade,
two of the sister ships with them were sunk.

Recovered, he was sent to allied campaigns in North Africa and Italy . En
route his ship was chased by the German battleship Bismarck .

In North Africa he served under General Montgomery against the Desert Fox,
Rommel.

Sent into the Italian campaign, he met his future wife, a lieutenant and
physiotherapist in a Canadian hospital. They were married in the morning by
the mayor of the Italian town, and again in the afternoon by a British
padre.

After the war they settled in Chatham where he went into politics and became
the warden (chairman) of the county and on his retirement he and his wife
moved to Ottawa . At the age of 80 he wrote a book about his experiences.

One day out of the blue he received a call from a government official asking
him to go downtown for a photo op. He wasn't told what the photo was for or
why they chose him. 'He had no idea he would be on the bill,' his daughter
said.

And now you know the story of the old veteran on the $10 bill.

 Friend of ours told us she had a friend that died about 15
years ago but she told her she grew up on a ranch in Oklahoma that had
several oil wells on the property.  Her family was told to cap all the wells

there and they were given a pretty big settlement from the US government at
the time.  She said none of the wells had run dry they were still producing
oil when they had to cap them.

 Here's an interesting read, important and verifiable information :
 About 6 months ago, the writer was watching a news program on oil and
one of the Forbes Bros.  was the guest.  The host said to Forbes, "I am
going to ask you a direct question and I would like a direct answer; how
much oil does the U.S.  have in the ground?" Forbes did not miss a beat, he
said, "more than all the Middle East put together." Please read below.
 The U.  S.  Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only
scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big.
It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since 1995) on how much oil was

in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota , western South Dakota , and

extreme eastern Montana   check THIS out:
  The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe
Bay, and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign
oil..  The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503
billion barrels.  Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable...  at $107 a
barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5..3 trillion.
"When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see
their jaws hit the floor.  They had no idea.." says Terry Johnson, the
Montana Legislature's financial analyst.
"This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found
in the past 56 years," reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette.  It's a
formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as

the 'Bakken.' It stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and
into Canada .  For years, U.  S.  oil exploration has been considered a dead

end.  Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells
decades ago.  However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the

Bakken's massive reserves  and we now have access of up to 500 billion
barrels.  And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels
will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!
That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 2041 years
straight.  And if THAT didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one
should - because it's from 2006!
U.  S.  Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World Stansberry Report
Online - 4/20/2006 Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky
Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world.  It is more
than 2 TRILLION barrels.  On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its
extraction.  In three and a half years of high oil prices none has been
extracted.  With this motherload of oil why are we still fighting over
off-shore drilling?
They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders,
than all the other proven reserves on earth.  Here are the official
estimates:
- 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
- 18-times as much oil as Iraq
- 21-times as much oil as Kuwait
- 22-times as much oil as Iran
- 500-times as much oil as Yemen
- and it's all right here in the Western United States .
HOW can this BE?  HOW can we NOT BE extracting this?  Because the
environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become

independent of foreign oil!  Again, we are letting a small group of people
dictate our lives and our economy.WHY?
James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in
this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION
barrels untapped.  That's more than all the proven oil reserves of
crude oilin the world today, reports The Denver Post.
Don't think 'OPEC' will drop its price - even with this find?  Think
again!  It's all about the competitive marketplace, - it has to.  Think OPEC

just might be funding the environmentalists?

   Washington is enmeshed in the economic version of the phony war. The two
sides have declared war on one another, but neither has faced up to the
fierce battles yet to come. Too few seem aware of the staggering challenges
that face this country.
Here is a summary of the carnage wrought by the Great Recession summarized
by the Economist from a Pew study (HT to
nakedcapitalism.com>

):
More than half of all workers have experienced a spell of unemployment,
taken a cut in pay or hours or been forced to go part-time. The typical
unemployed worker has been jobless for nearly six months. Collapsing share
and house prices have destroyed a fifth of the wealth of the average
household. Nearly six in ten Americans have cancelled or cut back on
holidays. About a fifth say their mortgages are underwater. One in four of
those between 18 and 29 have moved back in with their parents. Fewer than
half of all adults expect their children to have a higher standard of living

than theirs, and more than a quarter say it will be lower.. for many
Americans the great recession has been the sharpest trauma since the second
world war, wiping out jobs, wealth and hope itself.
Stop and consider the implications. Then add the fact that continuing high
levels of unemployment are now the consensus forecast. Long term
unemployment will remain at record levels. In the US, where we provide only
temporary support for the unemployed, this is a social catastrophe. Families

break apart; drugs and despair increases; community institutions decline;
domestic violence, racial and anti-immigrant hostility soar. The young
graduating into this economy are likely to fare worse throughout their work
lives.
In this context, the Washington debate seems particularly puerile. The
business and financial elites are rolling out an attack on Obama as
anti-business, accusing him of demonizing corporations. Given Obama's
preternatural equanimity, the charge is risible. And utterly dishonest. (See

for example, Paul Krugman's

the latest screed by real estate mogul Mort Zuckerman, who Breitbarted
an
Obama quote, utterly distorting it to make his point.)
Republicans have returned to their supply side fantasies, arguing that top
end tax cuts won't add to deficits, while filibustering against unemployment

insurance and any jobs program. But we tried it their way in the Bush years.

Deficit spending driven by top end tax cuts and wars produced a bubble
economy, scarred by no jobs growth, stagnant wages, growing inequality,
growing debt, and borrowing of $2 billion a day from abroad, largely from
Chinese central bankers. And that was before the bubble burst. Surely, they
have to offer something different.
Democrats, in contrast, believe the Recovery Act worked to save an economy
in free fall, but wasn't big enough to put people back to work. So they call

for more jobs initiatives, plus extension of unemployment supports as well
as aid to cash strapped states to forestall layoffs of teachers and police.
But, divided internally, with Blue Dogs focused on deficits, they've been
reduced to offering up bite-sized legislative morsels not close to what is
needed to address the problem.
Each of these positions assumes that we can recover back to the old economy.

Just revive business confidence, or cut top end tax cuts, or offer up
temporary jobs programs, and the economy will recover.
The problem, as President Obama argued so cogently in his Georgetown
Economic Sermon on the Mount, is that we can't go back to the old economy
and should not want to. The old economy was based on bubbles inflated by
debt, with most Americans falling behind, meager job production, growing
offshoring of manufacturing, and rising inequality. There is no answer there

to the mass unemployment, declining wages, and even greater inequality we
are experiencing now.
Obama argued that we had to build a new foundation for the economy out of
the ruins of the old. He called for investing in areas vital to our future
-- education and training, 21st century infrastructure, research and
development. We had to shrink the financial sector so it no longer captured
40% of corporate profits. We had to balance our trade and make things in
America once more. Capturing a lead role in the expanding renewable energy
markets of the future was a national security and an economic imperative.
But that vision has been blighted in practice. The recovery act provided a
down payment on the investment agenda, but now the president is committed to

a three year freeze on domestic spending which essentially rules out any
significant investment. The

 A civilian court’s acquittal of a suspected al-Qaida terrorist of most
charges in deadly attacks on U.S. embassies is another indicator that
President Barack Obama has lost his magic touch, says international
journalist Arnaud de Borchgrave.

The president is “obviously in serious trouble,” de Borchgrave tells
Newsmax.TV in an exclusive interview. “The elections have put him at a
disadvantage on all fronts. He’s no longer the magician who gave the Berlin
talk when he was running for president and the Cairo talk in June of last
year.”

The case of Ahmed Ghailani, a Guantanamo detainee who was found not guilty
of all but one charge against him Wednesday, also “obviously indicates
justice can’t be carried out in civilian courts and will have to be done in
military court,” says de Borchgrave, a Newsmax correspondent. The Obama
administration has pressed for civilian trials for terrorists, including
9/11 suspect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
A federal jury in New York convicted Ghailani of one count of conspiracy and
acquitted him of all other counts, including murder and murder conspiracy,
in the 1998 African embassy bombings. The anonymous federal jury deliberated
over seven days, with a juror writing a note to the judge saying she felt
threatened by other jurors.

“If someone who’s clearly guilty is rendered innocent, imagine where that
leaves us,” de Borchgrave says. “As people involved with al-Qaida begin to
be released in civilian court, we’re just sending them right back to do the
same work against us.”

President Obama’s recent win-loss record works against him, says de
Borchgrave, who says, “He was winning one ball game after another, now he’s
losing one ball game after another.”

The next pitch is in the form of the START treaty with Russia. It’s
essential for the Senate to approve the treaty to ensure Russian cooperation
with the U.S. policy toward Iran, says de Borchgrave, a senior adviser at
the Center for Strategic & International Studies.

Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., has indicated opposition to passing the treaty during
the lame-duck session of Congress, a position de Borchgrave criticized as
“very dangerous.”

“All sorts of other things are contingent on a successful restart of
relations with Russia, which includes nuclear weapons,” de Borchgrave says.
“To understand what’s at stake, one has to go to Iran and the network of
anti-missile missiles we want to install around Iran.”

Russia’s cooperation on that plan is important. “We and Russia seem to be on
the same wave length on Iran and their secret nuclear program,” he says.
“The Russians have agreed not to sell them anti-aircraft missiles. A lot is
at stake beside a nuclear arms agreement.”

The treaty would take years to implement. “There’s absolutely no harm in
ratifying that to obtain Russian assistance in the much more important
problem now of Iran,” de Borchgrave says.

The military option is still very much on the table for the United States
against Iran, he says. “What everyone fears most is that a military strike,
whether done by Israel or the U.S., will be answered by Iran with formidable
asymmetrical retaliatory capability that will go up and down the entire
Persian Gulf.”

The war in Afghanistan doesn’t look good, he says. “Everyone is looking for
a way out, but no one wants to turn the country over to the Taliban.”

The Obama administration reportedly plans to end U.S. military involvement
in the country by 2014 and hand security over to the Afghans. “That’s
totally ludicrous,” de Borchgrave says.

“There’s no way it could work. But everyone wants out. A successful effort
to create effective Afghan forces must overcome a legacy of more than eight
years of critical failures of force development and training.”

had left was $10. He decided to use it to buy food and then wait for death
as he was too proud to go begging. He was frustrated as he could find no
job, and nobody was ready to help him.

He bought food and as he sat down to eat, an old man and two little children
came along and asked him to help them with food as they had not eaten for
almost a week. He
looked at them. They were so lean that he could see their bones coming out.
Their eyes had gone into the socket. With the last bit of compassion he had,
he gave them the food. The old man and children prayed that God would bless
and prosper him and then gave him a very old coin. The young graduate said
to them 'you need the prayer more than I do'.* *

With no money, no job, no food, the young graduate went under the bridge to
rest and wait for death. As he was about to sleep, he saw an old newspaper
on the ground. He picked it up, and suddenly he saw an advertisement for
people with old coins to come to a certain address.


He decided to go there with the old coin the old man gave him. On getting to
the place, he gave the proprietor the coin. The proprietor screamed, brought
out a big book and showed the young graduate a photograph. This same old
coin was worth 3 million dollars. The young graduate was overjoyed as the
proprietor gave him a bank draft for 3 million dollars within an hour. He
collected the Bank Draft and went in search of the old man and little
children.

By the time he got to where he left them eating, they had gone. He asked the
owner of the canteen if he knew them. He said no but they left a note for
you. He quickly opened the note thinking it would lead him to find them.

Can a nation remain a superpower if its internal politics are incorrigibly
stupid?
Start with taxes. In every other serious democracy, conservative political
parties feel at least some obligation to match their tax policies with their

spending plans. David Cameron, the new Conservative prime minister in
Britain, is a leading example.
He recently offered a rather brutal
budget<

includes severe cutbacks. I have doubts about some of them, but at
least Cameron cared enough about reducing his country's deficit that
alongside the cuts he also proposed an increase in the value-added tax, from

17.5 percent to 20 percent. Imagine: a fiscal conservative who really is a
fiscal conservative.
That could never happen here because the fairy tale of supply-side economics

insists that taxes are always too high, especially on the rich.
This is why Democrats will be fools if they don't try to turn the
Republicans' refusal to raise taxes on families earning more than $250,000 a

year<

an election issue. If Democrats go into a headlong retreat on this,
they will have no standing to govern.
*The simple truth is that the wealthy in the United States -- the people who

have made almost all the income gains in recent years -- are undertaxed
compared with everyone else. *
Consider two reports from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. One,
issued last month

highlighted
findings from the Congressional Budget Office showing that "the gaps in
after-tax income between the richest 1 percent of Americans and the middle
and poorest fifths of the country more than tripled between 1979 and 2007."
The other, from February

used Internal Revenue Service data to show that the effective federal income

tax rate for the 400 taxpayers with the very highest incomes declined by
nearly half in just over a decade, even as their pre-tax incomes have grown
five times larger.
The study found that the top 400 households "paid 16.6 percent of their
income in federal individual income taxes in 2007, down from 30 percent in
1995." We are talking here about truly rich people. Using 2007 dollars, it
took an adjusted gross income of at least $35 million to make the top 400 in

1992, and $139 million in 2007.
The notion that when we are fighting two wars, we're not supposed to
consider raising taxes on such Americans is one sign of a country that's no
longer serious. Why do so few foreign policy hawks acknowledge that if they
lack the gumption to ask taxpayers to finance the projection of American
military power, we won't be able to project it in the long run?
And if we are unwilling to have a full-scale debate over whether
nation-building abroad is getting in the way of nation-building at home, we
will accomplish neither.
Our discussion of the economic stimulus is another symptom of political
irrationality. It's entirely true that the $787 billion recovery package
passed last year was not big enough to keep unemployment from rising above 9

percent.
But this is not actually an argument against the stimulus. On the contrary,
studies showing that the stimulus created or saved as many as 3 million jobs

are very hard to refute. It's much easier to pretend that all this money was

wasted, although the evidence is overwhelming that we should have stimulated

more.
Then there's the structure of our government. Does any other democracy have
a powerful legislative branch as undemocratic as the U.S. Senate?
When our republic was created, the population ratio between the largest and
smallest state was 13 to 1. Now, it's 68 to 1. Because of the abuse of the
filibuster, 41 senators representing less than 11 percent of the nation's
population can, in principle, block action supported by 59 senators
representing more than 89 percent of our population. And you wonder why it's

so hard to get anything done in Washington?

   Famous Faces Carved Out of Phone Books

Occasionally, you come across an artist whose skill and dexterity in the
practice of their art can leave you breathless with admiration. When a
simple slip could ruin many previous hours of painstaking effort, you cannot
help but admire the dedication and talent of the person who willingly takes
those chances time and again to produce stunning sculptural works,
especially when such works employ recycled materials as their base.

Something that many of us dread is the thump on the door mat announcing the
arrival of the new phone book. What to do with the old ones, so unwieldy and
heavy; they have us scratching our heads in frustration. One man in the USA
decided that such waste was ideal for a kind of artwork that at the time was
quite unusual. Out searching for scrap wood to use in sculpting. Alex Queral
thought that discarded phone books could be used in carving.

That was back in the mid 1990s and since then, 51-year-old Alex has gained a
formidable reputation for his stunning portrayals of famous people, carved
meticulously out of those old directories. He stars off by drawing freehand
the face of some celebrity or other. He then places this over the used phone
book and uses the drawing as a template for the intricate process of carving
that image into the pages of the book.

This can take a couple of weeks of painstaking attention to detail, as Alex
carves quite literally through thousands of pages with razor blades or an
artist’s scalpel, having to take great care at all times, because a wrong
move can easily lead to his having to start all over again. As Alex says:
"It can be quite tense work sometimes because it takes a long time to finish
and when you cut something away you can't get it back again. Nearing the end
of the carving and then suddenly having it ruined by a careless cut can be
pretty crushing. You have to start all over again."

Based in Philadelphia, Alex works part-time in a natural foods shop and
currently produces two carvings per month, painting them with transparent
acrylic paint upon completion to make them durable and give them a glossy
finish. He has produced heads of many iconic people and claims that some are
far easier than others simply because their faces have an indefinable
quality that Alex finds more appealing. High on his list of favourite
subjects for his artworks were both Jack Nicholson and John Goodman, whose
faces he found really stood out from others around them.

There have also been portraits of President Obama, Clint Eastwood and the
Dalai Lama, among many others in the portfolio of this talented artist, who
sees his art as an acceptable form of recycling. In carving and painting
heads from phone directories, Alex feels he is celebrating the individual
lost in the anonymity of the thousands of names within it, creating an
‘object of longevity’ out of something that otherwise gets discarded every
year.

He felt that the human head was, for him, a natural choice because of its
inherent expressiveness, and he carves the faces from phone books to achieve
the three-dimensional quality, which he feels enhances the feeling of the
pieces as an object rather than a picture. He is correct, because his
sculpted faces are certainly eye-catching and memorable, wonderful
testaments to the artistic abilities of this amazing part time talent.

  Dairy-Free Eggnog Alternative


 *Ingredients:*

   - 2 cups chilled soy milk
   - 21 ounces silken tofu
   - 2/3 cup honey or brown rice syrup
   - Generous pinch sea salt
   - 1 cup cold water
   - 1 cup cold rum
   - 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
   - 20 ice cubes
   - Cinnamon (optional)

Blend first 4 ingredients together until smooth. Whisk in the water, rum and
vanilla. Cover and refrigerate. When ready to serve, blend half the mixture
with 10 ice cubes until smooth, then repeat with remaining mixture and ice.
Serve cold with sprinkles of cinnamon, if desired.  Makes 10 servings.

   As I read this, I realized a few years ago I wouldn't have even

Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an
order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets.  I asked for a half dozen nuggets..
'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the teenager at the counter..
'You don't?' I replied.
'We only have six, nine, or twelve,' was the reply.
'So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?'
'That's right.'
So I shook my head and ordered 6Nuggets*
(Unbelievable but sadly true...)*

I was checking out at the local Walmart with just a few items and the lady
behind me put her things on the belt close to mine.. I picked up one of
those 'dividers' that they keep by the cash register and placed it between
our things so they wouldn't get mixed.
After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the 'divider',
looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it.
Not finding the bar code, she said to me, 'Do you know how much this is?'
I said to her 'I've changed my mind; I don't think I'll buy that today.'
She said 'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left.  She had no clue to
what had just happened.

pulling it out very quickly.
When I inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the
Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the
ATM 'thingy.'*

some help?' I asked.  She replied, 'I knew I should have replaced the

'Hmmm, I don't know. Do you have an alarm, too?' I asked.
'No, just this remote thingy,' she answered, handing it and the car keys to
me. As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, 'Why don't
you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk.'

though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black
muslims as "pug nosed slaves."  Says a lot of what

  There are no pictures or media accounts of muslims walking
side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or helping to advance
the cause of Civil Rights.


  Where were muslims during this country's Woman's Suffrage
Era?  Again, not present.  In fact, devout Muslims
demand that women are subservient to men in the
Islamic culture.  So much so, that often they are
beaten for not wearing the 'hajib' or for talking to a man
who is not a direct family member or their husband.
Yep, the Muslims are all for women's rights, aren't they?

  Where were Muslims during World War II?  They were
Aligned with Adolf Hitler.  The Muslim Grand Mufti
himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and
accepted support from the Nazi's in killing Jews.


   Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th,
2001?  If they weren't flying planes into the World Trade
Center, the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania, killing
nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing
in the Middle East.  No one can dispute the pictures shown
from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN,
Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day.
Strangely, the very "moderate" muslims whose asses you bent
  over backwards to kiss in Cairo , Egypt on June 4th were stone
  cold silent, post 9-11.  To many Americans, their silence has meant
approval for the acts of that day.


  And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the "rich heritage" muslims have
here in America.

  Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates.
They were muslim.

  And now we can add November 5, 2009 - the slaughter
  of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a muslim major who
  is a doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be
counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan .

This is hardly a surprise but, this morning (as previously
announced),
the lame duck Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously voted to move forward
with censoring the
internetvia
the COICA bill — despite a bunch of law professors explaining to them
how this law is a clear violation of the First
Amendment.
What’s really amazing is that many of the same Senators have been speaking
out *against* internet censorship in other countries, yet they happily vote
to approve it here because it’s seen as a way to make many of their largest
campaign contributors happy. There’s very little chance that the bill will
actually get passed by the end of the term but, in the meantime, we figured
it might be useful to highlight the 19 Senators who voted to censor the
internet this morning:

   - Herb Kohl — Wisconsin
   - Jeff Sessions — Alabama
   - Dianne Feinstein — California
   - Orrin G. Hatch — Utah

This should be a list of shame. You would think that our own elected
officials would understand the First Amendment but, apparently, they have no
problem turning the US into one of the small list of authoritarian countries
that censors internet content it does not like (in this case, content some
of its largest campaign contributors do not like). We already have laws in
place to deal with infringing content, so don’t buy the excuse that this law
is about stopping infringement. This law takes down entire websites based on
the government’s say-so. First Amendment protections make clear that if you
are going to stop any specific speech, it has to be extremely specific
speech. This law has no such restrictions. It’s really quite unfortunate
that these 19 US Senators are the first American politicians to publicly
vote in favor of censoring speech in America.


*They have violated the Oath of Office & no longer meet the requirements to
fill that position & this gives grounds for impeachemnt or recall petitions
by the people of those States. This is also a sign there is a BAD event
being planned & they want their dis-info MSM to repeat the lies over n over
till people can't tell fact from fiction*

If you haven't heard Gov't Mule before, they are likened to a cross of Cream
and the Allman Brothers. To me, they sound like a very muscular Little Feat.
But then the two founding members, Warren Haynes and Allen Woody, were once

say but Allen Woody is now an ex-member of Gov't Mule as well because he
died around eight years ago. “High and Mighty” is a post-Woody effort and
came out a couple of years ago. This is a rousing rocking album. Imagine
Paul Rodgers fronting ACDC. I play this loud so I can set off the neighbor's
car alarm. The same frigging car alarm that goes off at three in the
morning. This music is also great to make Jehovah Witnesses drop their *

according to the U.S. Marshals Service, the images in their thousands are
being saved on hard disks.
DENVER - USA - A full body scanner operator was caught masturbating during a
scanning session by airport staff late Tuesday.



Airport officials at Denver International airport were on high alert
yesterday when a full body scanner operator was caught masturbating in his
booth as a team of High School netball players went through the scanner.

"The young ladies were going through the scanner one by one, and every time
one went through, this guys face was getting redder and redder. His hand was
moving and then he started sweating. He was then seen doing his 'O' face.
That's when the security dragged him out of his booth and cuffed him. He had
his pants round his ankles and everybody was really disgusted," Jeb Rather,
a passenger on a flight to New York told CBS news.

The controversial scanners display every minute detail of a person's body
and have been called intrusive by privacy campaigners. Body scanners
penetrate clothing to provide a highly detailed image so accurate that
critics have likened it to a virtual porn shoot. Technologies vary, with
millimeter wave systems capturing highly detailed pictures of genitals, and
backscatter X-ray machines able to show precise anatomical detail. The U.S.
government likes the idea because body scanners can detect concealed weapons
better than traditional magnetometers.

"What do you want to do, get blown up by a goddamn Arab at 30,000 feet or we
get to see your private parts? It's up to you, the ball's in your park,"
head of the TSA's scanning department, Rodney Schroeder, told CNN.

*It is, to me, exactly what a holiday should be. For one thing, there are no
gifts. You never have** to worry about what to get someone for Thanksgiving
or how much to spend. There are no lectures about 'greed' or
'commercialization' or how we're 'forgetting the spirit' of Thanksgiving. No
way. The spirit of Thanksgiving is eating. Who could forget that?*

*Secondly, it comes with football. What other holiday does that? New Year's
Day? But at least with Thanksgiving, you don't have a hangover. *

*There is no 'right' place to go on Thanksgiving except home. There is no
church or synagogue. No graves that must be visited. No trekking out to
watch fireworks. You just sit on the couch, or sit at the table, and you
laugh and eat and laugh and burp and ta-da you are credited with knowing the
'true meaning' of the holiday.*

*Did I mention the dressing? Not the turkey dressing. The human dressing.
There isn't any! Oh, sure, maybe you put on a nice pair of pants. Maybe. But

*Thanksgiving never moves. It is always on a Thursday, strategically placed
so that you might as well take off Friday as well, since Saturday and Sunday
are next, and, while you're at it, maybe half of Wednesday just to pick up
everyone from the airport. Thanksgiving gets you half a week off. What does
Labor Day get you? Monday?*

*And there is no shopping on Thanksgiving, unlike Memorial Day or Presidents
Day. Sure, there are Thanksgiving sales, but you do them on FRIDAY! How cool
is that? *

*Also, there are no masks. You don't beg for candy from strangers. And
nobody eggs your house.*

*Tell me there's anything better than a meal that goes all night, that
doesn't have an event tied to it, that doesn't come with a bill at the end.*


*Tell me there's anything better than only having to catch up with your
aunts, uncles and cousins to feel like you did the holiday proud. *

*Tell me there's anything easier than passing plates. *

*Tell me there's any better place to appreciate what you have than in a
kitchen filled with good smells. *

*Tell me there's a better invention than 'the kids' table.*

*And what holiday not only condones but pretty much expects you to fall
asleep on the couch?*

*So let's sum up. No costumes, no presents, no services, no tuxedoes, no
time limit, no guilt trips, and all the food, naps and football you want. *

Obamacare down our throats. Please forgive me for using the following crude
saying, but it is very appropriate to describe what has happened: "Don't
urinate on me and tell me it's raining."*

*Democrats say their mission is to give all Americans health care. The
Democrats are lying. Signing Obamacare into law against our will and the
Constitution is tyranny and step one of their hideous goal of having as many
Americans as possible dependent on government, thus controlling our lives
and fulfilling Obama's promise to fundamentally transform America .

I keep asking myself. How did our government move so far from the normal
procedures of getting things done?  Could a white president have so
successfully pulled off shredding the Constitution to further his agenda?  I
think not.*

Ironically, proving **America** is completely the opposite of the evil
racist country they relentlessly accuse her of being, progressives used **
America**'s goodness, guilt and sense of fair play against her.  In their
quest to destroy **America** as we know it, **progressives borrowed a
brilliant scheme from Greek mythology. They offered **America** a modern day
Trojan Horse, a beautifully crafted, golden, shiny new black man as a
presidential candidate. Democrat Joe Biden lorded Obama as the first clean
and articulate African American candidate. Democrat Harry Reid said Obama
only uses a black dialect when he wants.

White **America** relished the opportunity to vote for a black man naively
believing they would never suffer the pain of being called racist again.
Black Americans viewed casting their vote for Obama as the ultimate
Affirmative Action for **America**'s sins of the past.

Then there were the entitlement loser voters who said,   "I'm votin' for the
black dude who promises to take from those rich SOBs and give to me."

Just as the deceived Trojans dragged the beautifully crafted Trojan Horse
into Troy as a symbol of their victory, deceived Americans embraced the
progressive's young, handsome, articulate and so-called moderate black
presidential candidate as a symbol of their liberation from accusation of
being a racist nation. Also, like the Trojan Horse, Obama was filled with
the enemy hiding inside.

Sunday, March 21, 2010, a secret door opened in Obama, the shiny, golden
black man. A raging army of progressive Democrats charged out. Without
mercy, they began their vicious, bloody slaughter of every value, freedom
and institution we Americans hold dear -- launching the end of
**America**as we know it.

Wielding swords of votes reeking with the putrid odor of backdoor deals, the
Democrats landed a severe death blow to **America** and individual rights by
passing Obamacare.

The mainstream liberal media has been relentlessly badgering the Tea Party
movement with accusations of racism. Because I am a Black Tea Party patriot,
I am bombarded with interviewers asking me the same veiled question: "Why
are you siding with these white racists against **America**'s first
African-American president?" I defend my fellow patriots who are white
stating,   "These patriots do not give a hoot about Obama's skin color. They
simply love their country and oppose his radical agenda. Obama's race is not
an issue."

Recently, I have come to believe that perhaps I am wrong about Obama's race
not being an issue. In reality, Obama's presidency has everything to do with
racism, but not from the Tea Party movement. Progressives and Obama have
exploited his race from the rookie senator's virtually unchallenged
presidential campaign to his unprecedented bullying of **America** into
Obamacare. Obama's race trumped all normal media scrutiny of him as a
presidential candidate and, most recently, even the Constitution of
the **United
States** . Obamacare forces all Americans to purchase health care which is
clearly unconstitutional.

No white president could get away with boldly and arrogantly thwarting the
will of the American people and ignoring laws. President Clinton tried
universal health care. Bush tried social security reform. The American
people said "no" to both presidents' proposals - and it was the end of it. So
how can Obama get away with giving the American people the finger? The
answer: He is black.

The mainstream liberal media continues to portray all who oppose Obama in
any way as racist. Despite a list of failed policies, overreaches into the
private sector, violations of the Constitution and planned destructive
legislation too numerous to mention in this article, many Americans are
still fearful of criticizing our first black president. Incredible.

the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency
Administrator W. Craig Fugate met with the Commander, US Northern Command,
General Gene Renuart, to discuss "pre-disaster planning, response and
recovery in support of the federal response to the 2009 hurricane season as
well as wild fires, floods and other potential disasters." The meeting
reinforced the important relationship between the two organizations and
focused on the operational role of US Northern Command and what resources
and skills they bring to any major Federal effort related to all-hazards
preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. It was also an opportunity
to meet operational leaders who would fill key positions in those support
efforts"NORTHCOM plays a vital role in disaster response in support
of state and local officials," Fugate said. "I am impressed by their
commitment to teamwork and interoperability. They are leaning forward and
are solutions-oriented partners among the nation's emergency response team."
"We are committed to teaming with and supporting our civilian partners,"
added Renuart. "If our federal partners, state and local officials are
successful in responding to contingency operations, then ultimately we are
successful. We look forward to our continued collaboration and cooperation."
However, many law enforcement executives and organizations went on the
record saying they did not appreciate the prospect of federal troops
usurping the authority of local and state law enforcement agencies or the
role of the National Guard unit currently under the control of governors.
"My initial reaction is: why are we allowing federal troops to basically
invade the sovereignty of individual states when each state has its own law
enforcement agencies and each state possesses an armed and trained National
Guard and, in the case of some states such as New York, a trained militia?"
according to New York police officer Edna Aquino. "We have not used armed
federal troops in New York since the Civil War when Union troops and Navy
battleships attacked dissenters who opposed conscription by the Union Army,"
she added. According to officials from the Homeland Security Department,
FEMA and Northern Command share a common interest and a unified approach to
disaster response and recovery. "Both organizations also understand that the
most effective plans to save lives and protect property begins with
preparedness. This meeting was an important stepping stone to ensure mutual
preparedness and effective planning in support of state and local
officials," said one official.   Homeland Security Department officials
offered these two rationales for their joint ventures with the Department of
Defense: "Emergency preparedness is everyone's responsibility. Everyone

in a foreign country (like India ).  I have done this twice and it works!
Any time you call an 800 number (for a credit card, banking, charter
communications, health insurance, insurance, you name it) and you are
transferred to a representative (like in India), please consider doing the
following:

After you connect and you realize that the customer service representative
is not from the USA (you can always ask if you are not sure about the
accent), please very politely (very politely - this is not about trashing
other cultures) say, "I'd like to speak to a customer service representative
in the United States of America ."  The rep might suggest talking to his/her
manager, but, again, politely say, "Thank you, but I'd like to speak to a
customer service representative in the USA ."  YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY
CONNECTED to a rep in the USA .  It only takes less than one minute to have
your call re-directed to the USA .  Tonight when I got redirected to a USA
rep, I asked again to make sure - and yes, she was from Fort Lauderdale .

Imagine if tomorrow, every US citizen who has to make such a call and then
requests a US rep, imagine how that would ultimately impact the number of US
jobs that would need to be created ASAP.  Imagine what would happen if every
US citizen insisted on talking to only US phone reps from this day on.  If I
tell 10 people to consider this and you tell 10 people to consider doing
this - see what I mean...it becomes an exercise in viral marketing 101.

Remember - the goal here is to restore jobs back here at home - not to be

cleaning out the Chess vaults of all but alternate takes of alternate takes.
But these are no bottom-of-the-barrel scrapings here, quite the opposite.
The first 14 tunes collect up the remainder of his Memphis recordings for
Sam Phillips while the rest does the bootleggers one better, compiling
masters that were previously only available on bad-sounding '70s vinyl
albums. There's another snippet from his 1968 interview along with four more
acoustic numbers from that same session (done, it turns out, as a
promotional piece of sorts to preview his "soon-to-be-released psychedelic
album," which Wolf always dismissed as "birdshit"), sadly the only time
Chess ever tried to record him as a solo artist. A wonderful companion piece
to any other Wolf collection you might own.

A politician was seated next to a little girl on an airplane so he turned to

The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied to the total
stranger,
"What would you want to talk about?"
"Oh, I don't know," said the congressman.  "How about global warming,
universal health care, or stimulus packfages?" as he smiled smugly.
"OK," she said.  "Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you
a question first.  A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff -
grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a
flat patty, but a horse produces clumps.  Why do you suppose that is?"
The legislator, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence,

The developers behind a controversial bid to build a mosque and Islamic
center at Ground Zero have upped the ante in their audacious effort by
applying for $5 million in 9/11 rebuilding funds -- outraging some family
members and first-responders.
 The grant application by Park51, the name of the proposed $100 million
mosque and center, is now before the Lower Manhattan Development Corp., and
would be used to pay for some construction costs, as well as programs.
Arabic classes, along with counseling for immigrants, veterans and
domestic-violence victims would start up in a matter of months, beginning in
the existing buildings even before construction starts on the proposed
13-story center.
 But one downtown rebuilding source said they "found it difficult to
imagine" that Park51 

would meet the requirements for a grant since they have no existing
programs, no other funding and have yet to get federal tax-exempt status.
Park51 is among 265 applications seeking a slice of the $17 million in
federal funds available in cultural and community enhancement grants through
the LMDC. The total amount of requested funds is $175 million.
"Why would we give them money ahead of so many other worthy groups?" fumed
Tim Brown, a retired firefighter and first responder on 9/11 and a leading
opponent of plans for a mosque two blocks north of the World Trade Center.
"It's so upside down," Brown said of the project, which is a joint venture
of real-estate developer Sharif El-Gamal


and Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf.
"They are the ones who insist the project is not at Ground Zero and then the
next thing you know is they want to leverage 9/11," Brown said.
Debra Burlingame, whose brother was a pilot on one of the hijacked
airliners, cautioned against the use of any 9/11 funds for the mosque.
"This is federal money, it was not intended to fund a propaganda issue,"
said Burlingame. "If the LMDC gave them a penny, it would enrage everyone in
lower Manhattan."
A spokesman for Park51 said the grant, if received, would fund programs
available to all residents downtown and would help create 150 permanent jobs
once the center is built.
"Park51 remains committed to exploring all sources of revenue and funding to
build the community center in Lower Manhattan," said spokesman Larry Koop.
A committee of six LMDC board members will review all the grant
applications.

Ingredients

   - 1 1/2 pounds Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced
   - 1 tablespoon sugar
   - 1 cup sugar
   - 1 cup flour
   - 1 teaspoon cinnamon
   - 3/4 cup melted butter
   - 1 egg
   - 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

   1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
   2. Toss apples with 1 tablespoon of sugar, and pour them into a pie
   plate. Thoroughly mix together 1 cup of sugar with the flour, cinnamon,
   butter, walnuts and egg. Spread this evenly over the top of the pie..
   3. Bake in preheated oven until the apples have cooked and the topping is
   golden brown, about 40 to 45 minutes.

there that Hawkeye doesn’t have but this is most of his albums.

A 750 pound man with an incredibly sweet voice, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, the
“w” in his

surname is pronounced like the letter “v”, was affectionately known as Iz.  His
album

“Facing Future” contains a song where Iz talks about his father dying from
morbid obesity.

His brother died from a heart attack, presumably from the same condition.  In
1997,

Iz died at the age of 38 also from morbid obesity.  His body was laid to
rest at

the Hawaiian state capitol building, only the third person to have that
honor, and

the first nonpolitical one.  The albums presented here come from Hawkeye’s
CD collection

and are all ripped at 320kbps.  His generosity is your joy, so get those
