Reasonably priced is rather subjective. But for my money, I've used
the CoilMac for several years. Best $$$ I've spent in a long time.

I have been using an earlier model of this comb binder for several years:

http://www.mybinding.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/2239/GBC-CombBind-C110-Manual-Comb-Binding-Machine-7704240

It works great for parts and scores on 8.5x11. Anything less expensive
is usually more cheaply made; the more expensive ones are generally more
machine than I need.

I know there are people who have reasons for preferring a coil or some
other type of binding to plastic combs, but I have found this to be a

Comb binders work, but I find coil binding to work better for my
needs. The whole coil needs to be removed and replaced when one or
more pages is changed/replaced, but the smoother page turns and
relative freedom from tearing make it worth it for me. That said, I
wonder if the investment in the binding machine (and the space it
takes in my studio) was the wisest decision. It does save trips to
Kinkos and the fees they charge, but then I have to keep cover stock

The opposite of double time is half time, but I'm
not sure what that is in Italian. Medio means
middle, so that doesn't sound right. And demi

OK, just realized that I had an Italian-English

I hear you, Chuck, but for me it was a no-brainer. Ten kilometres to the
nearest copy shop was a huge drag. I got the coil mac from Nick and it has been
great. It was the second best purchase I ever made, after a laser printer.

Coils are far superior to combs for noise, robustness and stackability, in my
opinion. They also don't let the pages tear as easily.

Phone 800-869-2827. http://www.laminatorwarehouse.com/index.shtml.

The only thing I regret is not getting some
larger sizes of coils, which are almost
impossible to find here in Mexico. Well, except
11 length.

1. Why would the PS and EPS files be damaged? Bad font (Maestro)?

2. I know you can embed fonts in a PDF. Can you also do that in a TIF

3. When you convert a PS file to a PDF file, are fonts imbedded in the

I have two problems with them, and I wonder whether you've found
solutions. (1) page turns rub against the comb and are therefore
noisy. (2) In time the constant rubbing rubs through the holes and
the pages start to come loose.

I may be that using a larger comb than the absolute minimum needed
would help with those problems. But in general coil binding has
neither problem. Both are difficult to file because the binding is
lumpy.

I can't say I've found solutions, but for me personally those two things
have not been problems. I don't find the noise a problem in a concert
setting, though I imagine it would be in a recording studio. And I've
never had a page come loose, though very occasionally one of the punches
on the top or bottom will rip.

I sometimes do find when I get a set of parts back that a few of the
combs have gotten squashed or otherwise broken, but they're so
inexpensive, and it's easy to pull off the old comb and slap on a new one.

It may be that using a larger comb than the absolute minimum needed

Yes, you definitely need to have enough room in the comb.
