[Finale] Lost my stems

2010-08-04 Thread Richard Huggins

FINMAC 2007

I opened a file and all my bass clef stems are gone. Nothing I've
thought of has worked, including stab-at-it things such as respelling,
reengraving, changing clefs then back again, and cursing. The treble
clef is fine. If I paste a bass clef measure into the treble clef the
stems appear. If I paster treble clef notes into bass clef, their
stems disappear.Stems *is* checked under Items to Display.

What am I overlooking?

What the other folks said, plus:
Special tools stems tool. Select, hit backspace, see if they return.
Special tools multiple stems tool. Same procedure.

I just had an old score with hidden stems and I'd forgotten I used the
multiple stems tool!

And the prize goes to J.D. !! It was, in fact, an errant staff style,
presumably #16, stemless notes. How that got in there beats me, but
when I cleared staff styles, the stems returned.

Thanks, JD.

You're welcome Richard. Glad to help.

For future reference, there is a command to show colored bars across
the measures that have Staff Styles applied to them. These bars show
up on the measures every time you choose the Staff tool. Setup is in
preferences. I have found this to be valuable at times when going
thru older files that I cannot remember what exactly was done to things.

Just FYI.

[Finale] Sounds in Speedy Entry

2010-08-04 Thread Michael Greensill
I think this may have been answered before, but I can't find itit
used to be that when I moved notes up and down in speedy entry by
clicking on them with the cursor, the notes would sound the pitches.
Very useful in double checking with your ears that you have the note
where you want it. It doesn't work any more for me.
