[Finale] Playing stave 2nd time only
Playback question. Consider: a 5-measure passage with repeats and where you want the top staff to sound only on the repeat. Is there any way in FInale that can be done? Richard ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

For the first time through, make the expression something like First Time Silent, set the font characteristic for invisible, and make the playback volume zero. Make the other expression similar but set the playback volume to be what you want. -- David H. [Finale] Tempo markings turned to trash
Hi Folks, I am using WinFin 2006 I have awoken one morning to find that in my tempo expressions which indicate metronome markings, the metronome markings have suddenly become gibberish. The actual text of the expression is okay, it's just the symbols that have been corrupted. This affects both new files and old files that were okay last time I opened them but now are changed. To the best of my knowledge I have made no changes that might have caused this. It's as though a font has been removed. Would anyone like to suggest a cause and a cure please? That's what it looks like but I don't know how. Nor do I know which font was originally used so that I can re-install it. As I said, to the best of my knowledge I have made no changes. It's all very strange. Cheers, Lawrence Sent from my iPhone On 7 Jun 2011, at 00:23, Klaus Smedegaard Bjerre yorkmaster...@yahoo.com wrote: Have some of your fonts been erased from your disk? Re: [Finale] Tempo markings turned to trash
First of all, try running Disk Maintenance... Font Utilities under Data Check (or it might be a different name in 2008.) You will get a list of fonts Finale was expecting to find, but didn't. Then try reinstalling fonts from the install disc (Choose Custom install). Other than that, Windows fonts are an unknown area for me. I recently had some font issues on my Mac, but I'm pretty sure they were OS-specific. Yeah, ditch the confusing repeat and just write it out again since it's only 5 bars. Patrick J. M. Re: [Finale] Tempo markings turned to trash
I am on Mac, but I think the approaches are quite similar. My suggestions may be cumbersome, but they should save you the integrity of your files. Only open locked files until the problem has been resolved. Purpose: to prevent file information from adapting to the present unfortunate situation until it has been cleared. Reinstall whatever Finale relevant fonts you have on original Finale disks or on other mediae. Open a LOCKED file, that has not been opened since this present problem came up. Make sure all element types look right, or you have to find the still missing fonts and reinstall them also. Go to Document Options - Fonts. Take notes from the drop down menus about which font of which size has been used in which context. Now open an unlocked copy of one of you changed files. From the same Document Options window correct the font elements having gone wrong. You're Windows, like me. Have you changed any fonts to TrueType from Type 1 or vice versa? Or have both versions installed? Or swapped one type for the other? Check what the font should be, then check the font name. Some names have spaces, some don't. Be sure it's referencing the right one ... this happened to me during the F2010 to F2011 upgrade. It confused the Maestro Tempo (or whatever it's called) fonts and I had to reset the font referenced in every previous file I tried to load.
