No, you just make a new part instead of generating them all again.

Manage parts-new part and then open the part definition part to add
 the staves. It's pretty easy

[Finale] OT combining PDFs into one file, Mac OSX

2012-05-01 Thread Christopher Smith
Hi combined MacOSX wisdom,

I have a whole bunch of single-page files that I want to combine into one PDF.
I had heard this was possible in Preview on Mac, and sure enough I can copy
pages from one PDF to another document, but then I can't save the result!

If I save as then it only saves the single page I was showing at the time,
and if I try to print and then save a PDF, it only prints the page I was
showing at the time. I could have sworn this was possible, but I can't get it
to work.

Thanks in advance,

Christopher

I think it's under File in the pulldown menu. Followed by Create pdf
then Merge files into a single pdf.
Usually then it's best to go Optimize and Reduce file size to get the
size manageable.

[Finale] How do I insert 2 beats (part of a measure)?

2012-05-01 Thread bill sinclair

I don't know how it happened, but 2 beats got left out of the middle of my
concert score.

So I want to insert them in again. It's half a measure, so I can't use Add
measure stack.

Is there a quick and easy way to do that?

The select part of a measure option apparently has been moved somewhere where
I can't find it.

Hi Chris,

You aren't currently combining the documents in Preview, you are just viewing
multiple documents from the same window. You can't save the result because
you're not actually making any changes.

Don't just drag new PDF pages into the sidebar, drag them ON TO the thumbnail
at the top of the main PDF in the sidebar -- you will know you are doing it
right if you get the green + icon on your pointer when you drag.

Re: [Finale] How do I insert 2 beats (part of a measure)?

2012-05-01 Thread Lawrence Yates
You can select part of a measure by (in selection tool) pressing the left
mouse button and dragging around the area you wish to select.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean - do you mean there's a 2/4 bar instead
of a 4/4 bar? You can double click on the bar using the time signature
tool and change the time signature (ticking the -this bar only- box)

Sorry if this isn't what you mean.

Re: [Finale] How do I insert 2 beats (part of a measure)?

2012-05-01 Thread Florence + Michael
Do you mean that all the music after the place where the two beats are missing
is shifted two beats to the left? If that's the case, you can do this:

- select all the measures from the one where the two beats are missing to the
end of the piece.
- drag and drop this selection two beats to the right.
- at the appropriate place, paste in the two missed out beats.

If you need to select part of a measure, you do it by drag selecting starting
outside the staff.

How about adding a 2/4 measure where you want it. Then before adding any notes,
change the measure to whatever the surround time signature happens to be. Then
add your notes. Readjust if necessary to get what you're looking for. That is
if I understand your situation correctly.

Darcy,

That was it! I was dragging the new pages into the sidebar, but I WASN'T
dragging them on TOP of the thumbnail, I was dragging them BELOW, where I
thought I wanted them to go. I have to make sure I drag it to the LOWER 50% of
the thumbnail, too, otherwise it will put it before the page I am dragging it
onto, instead of after. This seems to have changed in the new OS, and the new
behaviour is not accounted for in the help file.

Eric, I saw the Automator idea once you clued me into it. I will certainly
remember it for the next time, especially if the job is this big again!

Thanks all for your quick and on-point answers

Hmmm. I don't know much on the technical side,
but when I've done that kind of combining I've
had to do it through the Adobe Acrobat program
itself, not through the Mac's cut-down .pdf
support. Others will surely have a better answer.
